UPDATED 10/10 Review
New update:I had mentioned losing the right ear piece and it’s some where in my backyard or possibly inside the house. The strange but good news is i can still use the left ear piece as long as I’m at home and there’s a connection. Crazy but since I’m able to use it at hime I added to my stars for not crapping out.Update: I was finally able to figure things out and I was able to have students use the timekettle to have my speaking translated to them, even with a slight delay that was great and a success.Unfortantely, I lost the right one today in our backyard. For anyone wondering or asking questions about how well they work with sweat DON'T use them! The right one slipped out without me realizing so now I only have the left. It still works but in 2 classes I needed both earpods - unless I can possilby purchase one right side, I'll have only one or buy a whole new set. For now I will use the one left earpod. 😒I bought these to use in school with the idea it would help translate between me and a few of my Spanish speaking students. Since it’s the weekend I only have the Spanish channels on tv for testing and that didnt go very well. I was hoping it would pick up more than one or two words but it didn’t. So for now I can only give it two stars for translating but I can give it 5 stars for music quality. The battery life gets 2 stars because 1st I don’t know how long the battery will last and 2nd I have to buy a special charging cord, not cool to send a device without a charging cord. This one doesn’t match any cords I have - I need a C cord 🤔I will update my review once I can try the earbuds with a live person speaking Spanish.

So this is my third Time Kettle product (WT2 and WT2Edge before this M2). The biggest differences between the Edge and the M2 are form factor, music/phone ability, and simultaneous mode. The Edge is a bit smaller and comes with some attachments to keep it in the ear securely, the M2 is very similar with no attachments, but stays put pretty well. The Edge doesn’t have music listening while the M2 does. The Edge has a simultaneous mode that allows two people, each using one of the earpieces, to just talk and the system listens and translates. The M2 lacks this mode and relies on a brief touch for the person talking to start (also possible on Edge). I’ll focus on that, as it’s been quite relevant. I found that the Edge, when in very close conversations, would have trouble just listening to the individual wearing the device and would therefore sometimes get a bit goofy in the translation. For example, it was listening for Portuguese, but heard English close to it, assumed it was Portuguese, and tried to translate that (English) into English, with often hilarious results. Here’s where the M2 really shines. By requiring the touch, it never got confused. Another big benefit is that in that mode (M2 only!!!) when you speak English, you will also hear the translation into the other language. This helps you both ensure that you were heard and translated, and helps you actually learn the language through the translation. There seemed to be less latency with the translations, too. The written words are displayed on the host phone screen rather quickly, allowing parties to read along quickly, even before the audible translation. While the need to touch takes a little getting used to, like keying a microphone, the gains in speed and accuracy seem to be well worth it.
Regarding the music ability, these works like a standard set of earbuds. I did have a few issues maintaining connectivity, but suspect some of that was my fault and will improve as I get more practiced with the various taps both navigating and controlling music and phone. Sound quality is pretty good, and certainly acceptable for this type device. Working on the EQ settings on my iPhone yielded good volume outdoors, and sufficient fidelity to actually enjoy the music.
It will be nice when they get a few more languages available for download, and I now some of their attachments similar to the Edge for securing the earpieces for more dynamic situations.
Overall, I would highly recommend these across a wide variety of applications. Quality is great, customer service (Daisy) is very responsive and helpful, and the product clearly delivers on its translation goals!! Perfection keeps getting closer!!

I bought these to help with my ML middle school class. To better assist them when teaching. I was skeptical especially since they were pricier than i anticipated. They worked okay at first i wasn't overly impressed. You had to have your phone extremely close to get any translation. And the earbuds themselves are not comfortable and do not sit in the ear well. They do not provide any additional fittings for them. After about a month i noticed the translation was not picking up and it would repeat letter sounds like a broken record. Eventually one of the earbuds stooped working all together. When i tried to connect to blue tooth only one would connect even at full battery. I teied resetting the bluetooth and ear buds and still nothing. When i contacted customer service they told me all these accessories i should buy to assist which had nothing tondo with the problem amd they cost $100-200 +. I wasnt spending more money to not fix the problem. That was there solution. After a few more cintacts to them they finally agreed to let me return the earbuds after sending multiple pictures. Trying to show them not connecting. Not easy to do. However they informed me they charge additional fees to return amd i was responsible for paying the postage. Im paying to return a product that didn't work properly to begin with. So im losing the product i had high hopes for as well as losing more money on top of it. Not a company i'd recommend or buy from again.

The set up is easy, the charging case will only accept the proper ear bud and appears to be controlled with magnets. Magnets also hold the charging case closed. This unit charges with a Type C USB connection and is quick to charge.

The unit can be used with three different modes: (1) Listening mode to touch speaker button and talk, but the back button has to be used to go back to speak the second language. (2) Touch mode allows two different languages to be spoken on the same screen and is great to use for the practice of another language. (3) Speaker mode, which allows for the native language to be spoken into the phone and the foreign language to be vocalized through the phone's speaker or vice versa. This is the best way to communicate with others if you do not want to give the other person one of the ear buds. That is the one I used most when trying to communicate with people in El Salvador. An added perk is that these can double to listen to music. The sound for music is crisp and delightful.

The customer support personnel were responsive to my emails. I have, since the first review I wrote, gave them another chance, not for translation between me and another party but rather to learn the downloaded language. While I have a ways to go to become fluent, I can absolutely see where these will be helpful in this endeavor. There are many different languages to choose from for the language packs or you could use the program through the internet for more language options. The choice is yours to make.

When the devices are purchased they come with 30 fish, which are like money to download offline language packs. The language packs are around $5.00 each so the fish card really helps. While the device does work better with an internet connection the download language packs would be good for language practice in places with sketchy internet. I simply put English as my input language and presto the words I am saying come through the ear buds in the language I am trying to learn, plus I get the option to hit the replay repeatedly to practice my pronunciation. Or, if I want to see if I have mastered the pronunciation I flip the input language and will hear what I said in other language in my native language through the ear buds to determine if I have mastered that word or string of words. This is a great tool for language barriers and or learning other languages

Cons: You must speak slowly and clearly into the microphone on your phone. If you talk too soft the Timekettle app will not pick up your words to translate.

I look forward to newer versions of the same.
