Would you say the same about people similar to her during the 1916 rising and battle of independence?

Do not sully the names of those who fought for our freedom by comparing them with the terrorist thugs of the Provisional IRA

Aengus Ó Snodaigh delivered the eulogy.

Former SF Assembley member Martina Anderson praising the bomber Dugdale....

Again, would you have equal disdain for similar characters in from the 1916 rising &/or war of independence?

All the IRA's put together look like saints alongside your vile Israeli savage child murder machine .. as well as the British Empire that they were fighting of course.

Strange people has to be said .
.
Don't want any foreigners in their country but enjoyed drawing lines on maps for centuries through other people's lands which still resonate and cause conflict to this day ...

Yep, and they dont seem to get the bit that they kinda deserve it .. and more.

It was a busy day at the crematorium.

They had to wait for the funeral in front to clear before their service – the last in a crowded schedule could begin.

For some of the grizzled veterans of the armed struggle in attendance, it must have felt like old times.

But on this occasion it was a sentimental send-off for one of their own: Rose Dugdale, the IRA bombmaker whose criminal exploits in the name of Irish freedom cemented her place as a heroine of the republican movement.

One 'Brit invader' less, I'm sure @Talk Back will be delighted. :ROFLMAO:

Attended the funeral of this wonderful person yesterday. A lovely service hightailed by talks by Maureen Shiels and Marian Coyle. And I got to meet many of my POW comrades.

Isn't Marian Coyle a convicted kidnapper?

By coincidence I have just finished reading The Good Terrorist by Doris Lessing.

Dugdale was developing bombs into the 1990s. Pity she was not sentenced to a longer period in the clink back in the 70s.

Dugdale was developing bombs into the 1990s. Pity she was not sentenced to a longer period in the clink back in the 70s.

The below poem by Yeats was particularly brought to my mind by your postings on this thread. The pinched sordid little nasty smallness expressed so brazenly is really something in it's crude and ignorant shamelessness.

September 1913.

What need you, being come to sense,
But fumble in a greasy till
And add the halfpence to the pence
And prayer to shivering prayer, until
You have dried the marrow from the bone;
For men were born to pray and save:
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.

Yet they were of a different kind,
The names that stilled your childish play,
They have gone about the world like wind,
But little time had they to pray
For whom the hangman’s rope was spun,
And what, God help us, could they save?
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.

Was it for this the wild geese spread
The grey wing upon every tide;
For this that all that blood was shed,
For this Edward Fitzgerald died,
And Robert Emmet and Wolfe Tone,
All that delirium of the brave?
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.

Yet could we turn the years again,
And call those exiles as they were
In all their loneliness and pain,
You’d cry, ‘Some woman’s yellow hair
Has maddened every mother’s son’:
They weighed so lightly what they gave.
But let them be, they’re dead and gone,
They’re with O’Leary in the grave.

Not at all. You're using the classic Provo apologist fallacy of false equivalence. I simply refuse to debate it.

Well of course you refuse to debate it ... I've yet to meet an "old IRA good, 1970s IRA bad" hypocrite who does want to debate it,

Tbf its hard for you to debate when the argument you have is so easily countered.... Ballyseedy, Altnaveigh, >100 disappeared never to be found etc.. etc.. etc...
Do you commemorate or castigate Collins?
There's no end to the pointing out of hypocrisy when one gets started.

Btw, I know it fits into your hypocritical narrative to label me but Im not a provo apologist, Im a realist simply pointing out hypocrisy and asking for a genuinely balanced view.

"pleasingly taut heist movie" is not a flattering summary of her life. It manages to belittle both her and the victims of her actions.

Looking at the footage, Adams must have a portrait hidden in his attic. He seems to be in incredible fettle.

Sure, he is only 75, a lad.
