Millburn's Ice Skating Pond And Ice Rink: See Hours And Rules

MILLBURN, NJ — Can I ice you a question: Have you been wondering when and where you can ice skate in Millburn?

Here are three ways to check whether the ice skating rink and the pond are open, followed by the hours and rules:

  • Millburn continually updates this website — twp.millburn.nj.us/recinfo — to let residents know whether the pond and rink are open for skating.
  • Also, a green flag is displayed in front of the Bauer Community Center building if it's safe to skate on the pond. For the rink, it's displayed on the tennis court fence. Red flags are displayed when it's not safe to skate.

Some Skating Rules And Information For The Pond And For The Rink:

  • When ice skating on the pond, only skate inside the yellow ropes and not past them as areas
    beyond the rope are dangerous and unsafe.
  • Skating is at your own risk as the areas are not always supervised.
  • Face coverings are recommended at all times and social distancing is recommended unless skating with a family member. Don't come skating if you have covid symptoms or are quarantining
  • Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • For the rink, there are capacity limits: (30) for open skating and (15) for hockey – First come, first served.
  • If you are waiting in line you must social distance and wear a face covering. The Recreation Dept. reserves the right to reduce capacity or close the rink if necessary.
  • If people are waiting in line to get on rink, at 15 minutes before each hour, skaters on the ice must vacate the rink area to let a new set of people on rink. Thus skaters will have at least a 45-minute session on the rink.

  • Weekends
    • 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Hockey
    • 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Open Skating
    • 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Hockey
    • 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Open Skating
  • Weekdays
    • 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Open Skating
    • 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Hockey
    • 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Open Skating
