“The Mandela Effect is when a large group of people remember something contrary to the known publicly accepted fact” Do you remember certain personal or world events happening differently than they apparently did? Some people remember the death of Mandela as far back as the 1970's in prison. This is where the effect gets its name. Share your experiences here!

What happened to the dolphin tank scene in Ace Ventura?

TV & Movies

My favorite part was always "I am Hans Getvelvet trainer of ze dolphin...... Do you know him? Does he call you at home? DO YOU HAVE A DORSAL FIN??"

I've watched 3 different versions (netflix/pirated/rented from prime) and it's like it's just gone

Thanks for the link! I'd never seen this scene, too funny!

Yes! It's been a long time since I've seen it and just did a re-watch, and it goes from him finding the stone to the guy telling the reporters they gotta go

From that youtube video -

The entire scene where Ace Ventura claims to be expert dolphin trainer Heinz Getwellvet was originally cut out of the theatrical release. It was added back in when the movie was released on videotape in June 1994, and was advertised as "additional footage not seen in theaters". Unfortunately, the scene was removed again on the Blu-ray release of the film worldwide.

Other cut scenes as well like the extended phone call from the Hospital and the bar fight with the contact lens.

There are so many versions of this movie with different scenes added/removed. I think its the one that is on broadcast television, there is a scene where Ace sings with the band Cannibal Corpse.

I saw that one on TV once, it's the best. What's hilarious about that part is you have to go through that to get to the basement where the tech guy works. Like, lol, ok.

The white, or the red?

Yea I wish they kept that one! Him dancing through the pit is cool but him singing on stage was awesome! Convinced myself that was an outtake. The guys from cannibal corpse had a blast! Met them once and had to ask.

Whaaat! I loved this movie growing up on VHS! I always remember this "Dorsal fin" scene OP is talking about, but ive never seen the scene with Ace singing on stage with Cannibal Corpse!

Reminds me of when Jim Carry plays that singer addicted to heroin and Liam Neeson is his director.

..totally forgot what movie that was now.

Had to go find the scene. It is a very poor quality clip.

When I watched it recently on Amazon this really threw me off. I asked the same thing. Apparently the director thought the scene didn’t fit and was just too one off, so they took it out when they added the movie to streaming services.

In my opinion at least, it's one of the best bits in the movie

Oh I agree. That’s why I was so confused when it skipped over the scene.

I ALWAYS use "do you KNOW heem? Duz he call you at ho-em?"

Its like why remove something that was so hilarious 😂

We do too!!!!

Ive never heard that line before, watched the movie many times, must be a different edit maybe?

Apparently that was a special edition "not seen in theaters" release. You can find it on YouTube if you search "Jim Carrey dolphin trainer"

It's a great bit

Woke go broke. That scene was epic

If I’m not back in 5 minutes…just wait longer! I have seen this movie so many times and can guarantee my siblings 100% know this scene too.

I’m so confused because I would have sworn I saw this scene in the theater as a kid, because I would recite it nonstop. I can’t believe it was only in the VHS version.

I absolutely HATE that they’ve left this scene out recently. It’s my favorite part of the whole movie! I know the dialogue like the back of my hand and when it got skipped I was like WHAT?!!!! 😨😨😨 I want to buy the iTunes version but I refuse to purchase an incomplete version 😡😡

Can't believe they took that scene out-! It made the movie- cut the captain Kirk bit before cutting that scene So angry>:(

That was my favorite scene too. I just watched the movie on peacock with my daughter. Wanted to show her an old favorite movie of mime and at the end of the movie I thought to myself, what happened toy fav scene? I must have missed it. Rewound the movie and the scene was gone. But you can watch it on youtube.

That's one of the funniest scenes as far I'm concerned. Film companies always have to mess with gold by altering things that need not be altered.  Same thing with Terminator 2. There are several scenes that have been edited or just flat out removed which gets my gears grinding! 😬
