What travelers are saying
- Nora L1 contributionFantastic place both for kids and adults! One of its kind! I genuinely recommend it. The surroundings are beautiful. We prebooked and prepaid our ticket but I guess it is possible to buy on the spot if there are free places left.Written November 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - brian d2 contributionsVisited Covadonga Sanctuary and lakes yesterday. The lakes are pretty spectacular and the Sanctuary is interesting. If you drive there you need to leave your car in the parking in the sanctuary area and use a shuttle taxi van. The fare is 12 Euros per person and is about a 20 minute drive each way. You can come back on any of the affiliated taxi vans whenever you want. They do shuttle runs all day. The road is closed to private vehicles because of a serious bus accident that was caused by a private car. I am experience at mountain driving and while I could certainly drive those roads with no problem, I would not want to do it with the road full of amateurs. The taxi vans and buses coordinate with each other so they don’t need to pass each other on the tighter curves. The 12 Euros per head is a bargain and the whole event is very well organized.Written September 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You’ll end up in beautiful surroundings with great views over Oviedo city. 100 metres away is another historical site, San Miguel de Lillo. Both buildings are pretty seen from the outside, but the top attraction is the walk up here and the views.
The following is a quote from Wikipedia:
“Iglesia de Santa María del Naranco is a pre-Romanesque Asturian building on the slope of Mount Naranco …. Ramiro I of Asturias ordered it to be built as a royal palace, part of a larger complex that also incorporated the nearby church of San Miguel de Lillo, 100 meters away. The palace was completed in 842 and had in part a religious function, being consecrated in 848.”Written December 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ken CWashington DC, DC13 contributionsHiked from Patagonia to Nepal and this hike ranks top 5 of all. Stunning river valley, relatively moderate and variety of creative vistas. Hiked on Good Friday and parking was impossible so walked 2 km to begin trailhead. Went from Poncebos to Cain, lunch food at mile 7 was great with cold beer. Don’t miss this hike!Written March 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Dorothy CWorld64 contributionsWe must have gone at the wrong time of day as there was no activity in the holes. It was a very hot day and the walk seemed a long one, from the car park to the coast. However, the view was spectacular when we got there and we stopped halfway back at a cafe for drinks which made the walk back more pleasant.Written July 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We saw some students preparing events. It is a nice stop if you have a car or have extra time in Gijon, however the best attractions of the city remain for me the viewing points and the beach.Written May 26, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Expedition740054San Juan, Puerto Rico1 contributionSafety is the guides’ priority, who are themselves miners, besides being extremely instructive and interactive. We visited the mine today and took the long tour. The guides were vigilant of the participants’ condition and safety - at all times. Thorough explanation of the miners’ daily work and the operation of the different sections of the mine. Very well organized. The participants can actually become a “miner” for a day. I would recommend a good physical condition, if you wish to take the long tour. Great experience in Oviedo!Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
