Wedding Entrance Songs: Crowd Cheering Hits

Updated March 11, 2023 | Author: Matthew Campbell

The wedding entrance songs are when the master of ceremonies announces the wedding party VIPs at the reception. Of course, you, as the wedding couple, are the main act.

The best advice I can give as a wedding DJ is to kick your wedding reception into high gear with one of the entrance songs provided in this article – whether it be a bang or a romantic intro.

Quick Tips

When picking out the song to enter the reception hall, you must consider the following 3 factors:

1. Does the song have a special meaning to both of you?
2. What is the tempo of the song (fast or slow) to determine the mood of the moment?
3. Does the song’s genre and meaning match your music tastes and relationship?

As an experienced wedding DJ, I’ve assembled a list of songs for the wedding entrance introduction. Songs are selected by the meaning of the song and popular hits by today’s couples.

FAQs

First and foremost, the DJ or band must get all wedding guests hyped for the grand entrance through music and emcee announcements. Then, the wedding party must enter the reception hall with excitement, happiness, and confidence.

A popular grand entrance game is to have a dance-off between the wedding party members. Then, have guests select the best entrance and present them with a prize.

The grand entrance can be as short as 2 minutes if only the newlyweds are introduced. It can be as long as 10 minutes to introduce a large wedding party such as 10 groomsmen and 10 bridesmaids. Plan 5-10 minutes.

First, you must decide if you want a hyped entrance or a romantic entrance just for you. If you want a song to play as you enter with cheers, then select an upbeat song in your favorite style of music. If you have a more classy affair, then select a romantic love song to set the mood of romance for the meal.

Typically, the wedding couple enters the reception hall and is announced together instead of individually. However, at the wedding ceremony, the groom typically walks down the aisle while escorting his mother to her seat. He can also choose to walk down the aisle alone and have his own groom processional song too.

It is up to the master of ceremonies to discuss with the wedding couple beforehand how they wish to be introduced. In addition, some weddings are same-sex weddings. Typically, a bride and groom are introduced as “It is my great honor and happy privilege to introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver and Olivia Smith!”.

For gender-neutral entrances, the introduction could be “Let’s raise our glasses and welcome the newly united couple, Liam and Noah!”

As the wedding party re-emerges, you can have your professional DJ announce special pairs, the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and/or the wedding couple. Often the parents and grandparents are announced as a special pair. Then pairs of groomsmen and bridesmaids. After that, the best man and maid of honor are announced, followed by the wedding couple.

  • Wedding Party Entrance Songs For Pairs (Special Guests, Parents, Groomsmen, Bridesmaids, and Wedding Couple)
  • Wedding Party Entrance Songs – Groomsmen
  • Wedding Party Entrance Songs – Bridesmaids
  • Wedding Couple

Keep in mind that generally, the wedding party is absent for a while after the ceremony. They’re all with the photographer while the guests are at the reception, eating hors ‘devours.

The short answer is as many as you like. But, generally, one song is long enough for up to 9 introductions. That would be the parents, grandparents, one to five sets of the wedding party, the best man and maid of honor, and the wedding couple.

Keep in mind that the average song is 3 minutes in duration. It can take 20 seconds for a couple to prepare and get from the venue entrance door to their seats or to the dance floor. As you increase the number of introductions so will the number of songs you will need. A 3-minute song at 20 seconds per introduction equals 9 introductions on a single song.

You can always create a medley, but that can be confusing for the guests. If you have chosen to skip dinner or allow guests to eat while photographs are taken, the entrance can be immediately followed by the couple’s first dance.

One song I am thinking of as a possibility for our entrance is the Main Title from ‘An Officer & A Gentleman’. It’s basically an instrumental version of the song ‘Up Where We Belong’ from the same movie. Problem is, it’s only about 1:40 long. Any way you see this working?

Hello. Thanks for the suggestion. Just for those romantic movie buffs and early 80s music fans, there is a great instrumental cover by Richard Clayderman that would work great into the wedding ceremony!

Hi, my daughter wants to know what song I want played when I walk into her wedding reception. I’m divorced, and am trying to think of a kick ass song that represents the strong, independent woman I am. Any suggestions? I have pretty eclectic taste, except for rap.

Hi Tina. Thanks for the question. We have some awesome entrance songs here. However, you may first want to ask your daughter if there is a special song she likes first. Then, you may want to check out our Mother Daughter Songs too.

I like the idea. Just have your DJ mix in the two songs.

I am planning to walk down the aisle in just a few months, this fall. My entrance song(hopefully) will be “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge. There are two versions, but I like the original better than the remix. Just another idea for anybody who may see this. :-)
