What trailer song set the mood for War For The Planet Of The Apesteaser trailer? Planet Of The Apes is a classic sci-fi film starring Charlton Heston, and it was one of the first movies to spawn a long-running franchise. This ran against Heston's wishes, who initially refused to return for Beneath The Planet Of The Apes, but eventually agreed to an extended cameo on condition his character die and that he blew up the planet with a nuke, thus preventing more sequels. This didn't work, as time travel shenanigans allowed the series to continue for three further sequels and a TV series.

Tim Burton stepped behind the camera for 2001's widely-maligned Planet Of The Apes remake with Tim Roth and Mark Wahlberg, which was a hit but failed to launch a new series. The franchise received a much-needed shot in the arm with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which followed the uprising of captive apes, led by Caesar (Andy Serkis). This kicked off a surprisingly emotional trilogy with Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and War For The Planet Of The Apes, which dealt with apes becoming the dominant species on Earth as the human race all but dies out.

War For The Planet Of The Apes is the most somber of the reboot trilogy, with Caesar on an Apocalypse Now style quest to avenge the murder of his wife and son at the hands of Woody Harrelson's deranged Colonel.

War For The Planet Of The Apes' original teaser trailer certainly sets the mood, thanks to a fantastically atmospheric track dubbed "The Furies" by Really Slow Motion. The movie's promotional team had a talent for searching out moody tracks to score their previews with, as the second War For The Planet Of The Apes trailer featured another great song by Future Heroes called - appropriately enough - "Worlds On Fire."

War For The Planet Of The Apes brought Caesar's story to a close, but Hollywood isn't going to let a successful franchise sit for long. In late December 2019, it was announced director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner) was hired to develop and helm a new Planet Of The Apes movie, Whether it's connected to any of the previous movies or will be a total reboot is currently unknown.
