Grand palace bit inside is a historic museum. Mid-evil, Ancient Greek, égyptien. Guides, floor plan and most explanations of exhibits are not translated to English or French Closes at 5:30, but the tower closes at 4:30. Park is nice and open til dark.

Spent a good part of the afternoon strolling the palace grounds.
We went here on a Monday in November, which was a mistake as the museum is closed on Monday. However, that didn't stop us from taking advantage of the grounds and parks surrounding it. Please note that there is a fee to enter the museum, but none for the parks.
The grounds are well kept and expansive. Since it was already winter, the many fountains and water were not flowing, but that did not deter us from enjoying them. There is a really nice playground for every age of child hidden among the many paths.
Even if you don't make it inside the palace, spending time strolling through the parks is worth the visit.

We only had a spare hour today and decided on the tower
Unfortunately we don’t speak German and the receptionist wasn’t overly helpful in advising us where we had to go to actually get to the tower area. Not great for signage too
Having left our small back pack in the free locker (1 € deposit) we got up two floors only for the 5 th attendant we had met and asked directions to send us back down to put my small bag into the locker too . A tad frustrating
To get to the tower you have to go through another exhibition the Kasier and the Sultan which was quite good , odd as I don’t think it’s in the ticket price but you can’t not see it as you walk through . A rather overpowering smell does greet you on arrival , possibly an air freshener or cleaning products
A lady checked our ticket and said to go left but again didn’t indicate where the tower was ! Finally she pointed to a door which led to the stair case . The first 100 or so steps are wide and clear but often met with others coming in the opposite so lucky for passing points
Before the final climb there is a small opening , then about 30 steps up a right spiral staircase which opens out to the viewing area
Again not a lot of space for two people but it is worth it for the view in a lovely day
4 Euros each so not too bad

This castle was first built over 300 years ago-- in 1715. Over the years it was rebuilt [most recently after the destruction during WW2], and the city grew around it. It is the city's most noted attraction [according to travellers like you and I]... and, has also been awarded TripAdvisor's coveted "Certificate of Excellence". The castle, which is a beautiful building, features amazing architecture, is also a Museum, and presents an interesting light show. It is surrounded by a large park with an "approach lined with statues". The whole complex is well worthy of a visit-- to history buffs and anyone visiting Karlsruhe.

Absolutely worth to visit and the tower is highly recommended! The garden, the buikding itself gives a majestic atmosphere! A must! Pet fans: squirrels may turn up at any time in the garden, so prepare yourself for cute meetings!

We paid to get in which was pointless because none of the exhibitions are written in English so we just looked. It's mostly a museum of ancient history but the tower was worthwhile. After climbing loads of stairs you get a view of the city and park which is pretty awesome. The park itself is devine.

We intend to drive to Karlsruhe from Baden Baden. Where do you recommend to park -ideally free or inexpensive parking to see the town. Besides the castle what are the other main 5 attracts in Karlsruhe, please? I intend to stay for a few hours and mix it with some shopping as well. what is the entrance fee to the castle please?
Is it worth stopping at Ettlingen on the way? Is there any thing to see there.
If so please recommed where to park in Ettlingen as well, while we walk around, ideally free street/areas or inexpensive parking.
We usually like to walk around old medieval villages/towns.

Parcheggio e ristoranti sono all'interno? O comunque limitrofi?
