symptoms of strep throat if you don't have tonsils?

Essentially the same: Strep throat is strep throat--a bacterial infection due to exposure to a specific germ called streptococcus. Headache, sore throat, red throat, swollen lymph nodes of the neck, nausea, vomiting, generalized achiness or malaise, even a fine sandpapery red rash known as scarletina can occur whether one has tonsils or not. Admittedly the chance of strep throat seems less after tonsillectectomy.

Yes: If your partner had gonorrhea you could certainly get a  throat infection from it. It is more likely something else, but if the timing is right, it is a possibility.

Several possibilitie: Chris, There are several possibilities. A strep screen is about 80-85% accurate. Strep is therefore still a slight possibility. More likely is a viral pharyngitis, which would cause the same symptoms, usually last 5-7 days, then get better on its own. Lastly, you could have mono, if you haven't before. In that case, it would last 6 weeks. If it doesn't go away in a week see your doctor.

Empiric antibiotics Also ENT CONSULT The firm external sensation may be a secondary enlarged lymph node. Gerd can also cause similar SX and can respond to ZANTAC OR NEXIUM (esomeprazole).

Yes !!: Strep pyogenes (group a) does not care whether its victim has tonsils or not.  Not only can your child get strep throat, but this should be tested for and treated, because without eradication there are post-streptococcal complications like extension  of the infection to other areas, or acute rheumatic fever.  Get child seen by family doctor.

Multiple: You can get strep throat without tonsils. Symptoms include severe and sudden sore throat without coughing, sneezing, or other cold symptoms. Pain or difficulty with swallowing and fever greater then 101 can occur. Swollen lymph nodes are common. White spots are common. See a medical provider. Good luck

Yes: The tonsils and adenoids represent large collections of gland tissue that are often involved with strep infections. After removal of most of those structures there will still be other glandular tissue present that can become infected with strep.

Yes: Although removing the tonsils may decrease the frequency of strep throat, it is still possible to become infected with strep without tonsils.
