Why does Edge keep asking me to sign into websites using my Microsoft - Microsoft Community

Why does Edge keep asking me to sign into websites using my Microsoft account and how do I disable it?

When I navigate to certain websites, I get a pop-up asking if I want to sign into that site using my Microsoft account. How do I disable this?

Hello Todd_Kr

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Regarding to your information I assume that you have some issues when you use Edge.

Are the issues you're encountering the same as those described in the article? If they are, you can refer to the solutions provided in

the article to help you resolve the problem.

Edge - Automatic "Sign in " to certain sites - How do I disable this? - Microsoft Q&A

If you're using the same account to log into Windows and Edge, you can try changing your Windows account to a local account and

then see if you can make the necessary changes.

For Windows 11, you can find the option to switch to a local account by going to Settings -> Account ->

Account Information.

In Settings -> Account -> Email & Account, you can find the relevant options provided in the article.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Best Regards,

What caused this "Feature" to change? I didn't willfully change it.

I have only two options on windows 10 - home "Microsoft apps can sig me in" or "Apps need to ask me to use this account" thus either way the new Edge going to annoy me with sing in when I am opening an app despite I am logged in in the browser. ???

I am spending more and more time after every updates of Microsoft to get back my custom settings, now they annoy every time I am using an app shortcut. Why? What was wrong with this setting? Yesterday was working fine!!!

Hi

heck If you miss the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" string in the registry

Then just add (and restart)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge

DWORD

and the value: 1

0 = Disabled

1 = Login

2 = Forced

Hello

You should not have to change to a "local" account just to disable the ability of the Toronto Sun or the National Post to always and forever present the sig in pop up.

I thought we were on the right track with Settings>Accounts>Email & Accounts> Account settings> Manage. but No . its greyed out.

Cannot be that difficult can it?

Thank you I await your valued help.
