On my Win11 PC, I'm trying to find a way to share an app via Screen Share in a chat, but with part of the app cropped. For example, a web browser streaming video cut so that only the video is shared, not the menus or footer bar or whatever. Similarly, crop out the controls/window borders with MPC-HC/BE and only show the video. VLC does this by default and only shares the video. I'm trying to make that work with Chrome and other media apps.
I have OBS but don't see how to make that work for Discord either. I tried cropping a Window Share source in a scene, running VirtualCam, and then using that as my webcam in Discord instead of the Screen Share feature. It works but the image is flipped. Clicking "Horizontal Flip" in OBS VirtualCam crashes OBS every time.
I've tried just running the video in full screen, and that works, but I need to see the desktop and other apps while sharing. I can't alt-tab to anything with video fullscreen.

Firefox has a build in feature where you can pop out videos so you just have the video and nothing else. Even allows you to resize the window to your own preferences. Discord picks it up with screenshare and it works flawlessly.

Now I just need to find a solution for MPC. It's the only video player I've found so far that supports dual subtitles.

Did you check what your webcam looked like for the receiving end when you used window share to turn your webcam into the screenshare? Discord seems to mirror webcams, so what might look mirrored and wrong in your preview, could look correct for the people receiving your webcam video.
That's a good point, I can check that for future reference. However I just found and installed PotPlayer, and it seems to be much better than MPC. It has native support for dual subs, as well as an auto-hide of the interface option.

Follow-up question: Why do media player apps display differently via Screen Share? VLC fills the entire window with only the video, MPC-HD/BE shows the entire app window with all borders and controls and mouse, PotPlayer shows just the video, but has black boxes on the sides in addition to normal letterboxing, and also shows the mouse. Is there a setting that can be adjusted in discord so it treats all media apps like VLC? Or would it be a setting in the individual apps re: their output aspect ratio or some such?
