Alice has been a widow for a little more than a year. She has been unable to move forward in any real way. Then she has an idea.

The Star Gazer Inn on the shore of Corpus Christi bay played an important part in her early life. It is the place she met her husband. It is the place that started her love story. And now it is for sale.

Alice buys the Inn and makes plans to open it and make it even more successful and wonderful than it was in the past.

Alice is the mother of 4 grown sons. Their family is a ranching family. The ranch has been in the family for generations and it is one of the largest in the state of Texas. It has made the family very wealthy. There are cattle and horses and oil. All of these businesses are successful.

Jackson, the oldest son is the manager of the ranch and all the other businesses connected to it. Dallas is a professional bull rider. Tucker and Riley work on the ranch. Each of these young men love their mother, and want the best for her. All of them miss their father. Each of them are learning to deal with a completely new normal in their lives.

This story is the first in a series which has a great number of characters. It is evident that this will be a small town and family oriented series.

Alice’s next door neighbor at the Inn is a young woman with a past. Nina is a talented painter who shares very little information with her new friend. Nina has reason to be cautious about meeting anyone. But, Alice feels sure, that Nina would be someone who Jackson should get to know.

Lisa is Alice’s good friend who has survived a horrendous divorce and now finds herself at loose ends in life. Alice offers Lisa the opportunity to become the chef for the Inn when it opens. Alice and Lisa develop an even closer friendship at the same time they are creating wonderful ideas for the menus of the Inn.

Ms Clopton has created a story populated by characters who are facing life’s difficulties and surviving. Each person has a story which will take them on journeys in uncharted territory.

To me, this series will be an interesting one. There are stories to be told and people who take new paths. All in all, I look forward to reading the next chapters in this series.

What a heartwarming story about how heart ache and moving forward.

Alice is one very strong woman who was becoming a shadow of herself after losing her husband to a freak accident. Once she decided that she was going to buy the inn, remodel it and open it back up for business, her sons were shocked but supported her. Jackson, her oldest, took matters into his own hands to make sure that she would be okay. What she didn’t see coming was another new beginning for her.

Nina lived next to the inn and was basically a hermit. She kept herself hidden from the world for three years even though she was a marvelous artist. Once you learn about her past, you understand why. No spoilers, you will have to read to find out. Will she let Jackson into her heart? Will she decide that she should come out of hiding?

Lisa is one of those women who had a louse of a husband who left her for a young gold digger. She is now back home and agreed to be Alice’s chef for the Inn. She is a mystery to the reader and hope that in future books, her life story will come out.

This series is going to be a great series to read. It is real and has places where you want to laugh and other places that make you cry. You find yourself wanting to know more about each of these characters and Alice’s other sons, she had 4 of them.

The story of Alice and her four sons as they work through the process of of grief after losing her husband William to a drowning accident. As she remembers about meeting him at the inn where she worked during her freshman year of college, her heart is pulled back there. She goes for long walks on the beach while she mourns for him. She has lived on a huge cattle ranch all of those years. Also, oil had been discovered on their property, so there was no lack of money. While walking past the inn one day she noticed a for sale sign and was drawn to it; so she contacted her lawyer and had him draw up the proper paperwork so she could purchase it. (She did not share this with her sons until after everything was finalized. And you can only imagine the emotions of her sons, when she tells them she bought the inn and is moving there in a few days.) Although the Inn needed some repairs, she knew she would love bringing it back to life. She met a neighbor, Nina; who became a wonderful friend, renewed friendship with Lisa, who would use her culinary skills to become her chef, and a contractor who would become her contractor to transform the inn and herself. Great adventures unfold as her family and friends come together to assist Alice. What a great read!

Alice lost her husband and felt alone and not quite ready to deal with his death until when one day sitting on the beach like she did thinking of him she saw an old Inn where she used to work at along time ago . The Inn was for sale and she had a thought to buy it and restore it. She became excited about it and made their lawyer not to tell her son's to after it was a don't deal because she knew they would think she was crazy. She had to move off the beautiful ranch where she lives with her husband. Her one son was worried about her moving there and hired people to install too botch security and cameras. He met his mother's neighbor who lived next door to the Inn and she assured him it was safe. He eventually fell for the neighbor and hired a contracted for his mother and she eventually fell for him. He lost his wife 5 years earlier so he knew what Alice was going through.
