Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2, episode 1 features the dangers of a lockdown

The first episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2 features a real issue – is a full lockdown dangerous?

The first episode of Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2 does its job — it brings back the fears we were introduced to in season 1. Additionally, based on the back-to-back episodes tonight, the anthology horror series is championing diversity more than ever!

After diversity, what we love about the series are the topics it tackles. It pulls back no punches, highlighting immigration, the LGBTQ community, violence, and more.

Unfortunately, school shootings are a big issue in the states. What are schools to do? Find new ways to handle lockdowns? How much is too much? Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2, episode 1 is one example of a lockdown gone wrong.

Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2, episode 1, “Bag Man,” synopsis

“Bag Man” centers on five high school students (Zee, Gabbi, Winton, Jax, and Sam), not all of them friends, serving detention after they are blamed for a serious accident that occurred at the school. It’s not until late on in the episode that we learn who was truly to blame for what happened, but none of that matters much since the teens have a bigger problem to worry about– escaping detention alive.

Please note there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the episode

Breaking down Two Sentence Horror Stories season 2, episode 1, “Bag Man”

The first sentence reveal: “Be cool, stay in school.”

Before any of the students even enter the detention room, viewers notice a mysterious black bag is in the classroom.

One of the students, Winton, quickly notices the bag begin to move, but it stops before any of the others see it. No one believes Winton. Zee even teases Winton and the others by screaming in horror and pretending to see something inside, only to laugh at them when they get scared.

Later, Jax decides to go to the bathroom and never returns. Knowing Jax, the students believe he is trying to scare them by pulling a prank. But before he can even carry out his plot, the Bag Man comes out of the bag and claims Jax as his first victim.

Jax took the bag with him, but it reappears outside of the classroom. Assuming it belongs to one of the students, the teacher brings it back in before stepping back out to look for Jax.

This time, everyone sees the bag move. Zee opens it. To everyone’s horror, it’s Jax’s head. Sam is in complete denial and tells everyone to relax. It’s got to be one of Jax’s jokes, right? Nope!  And to prove this, the Bag Man appears behind Sam and kills him.

The lockdown

I love how unpredictable Two Sentence Horror Stories can be. Sometimes the characters make it out alive and are able to move on with their lives. Other times, not so much.

In the case of “Bag Man,” the teacher accidentally traps the students (and himself) inside when he activates the new lockdown system. Unable to escape, we can only imagine their fate.

The second sentence reveal: “It’s easier for me to get you.”

A lockdown is great at keeping the enemy out, but what if they are already inside? Is it a small sacrifice to pay since everyone else will be safe? Is there a better way to handle this issue? The answers are up to each viewer!

I do wish this episode had provided more details about the Bag Man. He is a great villain, perfectly frightening without even saying a word. But why is he preying on the students? How did he get there in the first place?
