Did Matt Brown go to his dad’s funeral on Alaskan Bush People?

This past Sunday, fans mourned the death of Billy Brown on a special episode of Alaskan Bush People, but eldest son Matt Brown was nowhere to be seen.

This was disappointing, as the show did everything it could to make sure no one even mentioned Matt in the episode.

There was even one point where they claimed Bam Bam was Billy’s oldest son. Bam Bam is 37 and was born in 1984 while Matt is 38 and was born in 1983.

Not mentioning Matt didn’t go over well with fans, who wondered where he was when his dad died.

Did Matt Brown go to his dad’s funeral?

Many fans asked if Matt Brown went to his dad’s funeral when he died earlier this year.

There is no definitive answer, but as the show revealed, it was a small ceremony and Billy Brown was cremated. Bear was the main focus when it came to the sons, and he has not gotten along with Matt for quite a while.

This all started when the Brown family sent Matt to rehab. While Matt says he is a year sober, he was never welcomed back and that is likely because he is so outspoken about his family.

However, right after Billy died, Matt Brown posted an Instagram video where he said the two reconciled before his dad’s death.

“Hi friends, In loving memory of my Dad Billy B Brown. Thank you all so much for your loving words of kindness and prayers they mean so much,” he said.

In the video, he stood behind a desk and delivered his message. It seemed a bit awkward and scripted, but he did just lose his dad.

“Truth is, it hit me hard. I’m very lucky that before he passed, I knew that his health problems were getting worse and I had the hindsight to be able to reconcile with him and find closure before he passed,” Matt said. “I feel good in my heart knowing I took that opportunity to do the right thing.”

Matt Brown still not on speaking terms with Alaskan Bush People family

However, since Billy Brown’s death, Matt has been outspoken about his family once again.

If he attended the funeral, there is a chance he and his family had another fight and he was edited out. If he didn’t attend, or wasn’t invited, it might also explain what happened next.

Matt Brown accused Alaskan Bush People of keeping money from him that he earned from the show. He also made several allegations against the show that border on illegal actions. There was almost no chance the reality series would feature him in this past Sunday’s episodes based on his comments – even if he was at the funeral.

Alaskan Bush People airs on Sunday nights at 8/7c on Discovery.

You know, the Browns brag all the time about how important family is and how close their family is, never giving up on each other, but in reality they are hypocrites! Matt has been cast out of this family because of his honesty and they treat him like a stranger! Matt should have been allowed to be at his fathers funeral and should have been allowed to take his rightful place as eldest son of Billy and Ami! Bam is not the eldest son! And what about Billy’s daughter? Where was she during this? Your family is not as strong as you think and in time you will have regrets for not trying to keep it all together. We wish Matt all the best in whatever he does and our condolences. Matt, you are strong and you got this! Take care.

I agree 100%. I have never heard a family preach Family Values as much as the Browns do. It is amazing how fast they turned their backs on Matt. I would have thought some of them, would have stood up for him. He as far as I am concerned has all the family values. I remember one episode where Matt stated that he wished he could work better with Bam. That he thought that Bam would always come if he (Matt) ever needed help. I guess he was wrong in that assumption.
I don’t imagine that Matt will ever see this but I have a lot of respect for you for going through rehab and staying sober. Keep up the great work and MAYBE one of these days your family will wake up and welcome you back. God bless you and best of luck.

Matt, I have one question. What gives Bam the right to take over. They have to wait on him to come and do any project that needs done on the ranch. He thinks his things come first. I think you are doing right by staying in rehab they can help you get through this. I think you should have gotten to go to your father’s funeral so that you could pay your respects no matter what the family said. You could have left as soon as you said your good byes. He loved you and I’m glad to hear that you at least got to talk with your father before he past. Stay strong and good luck.

I totally agree with you they are such a hypocrites! Family help each other when they need them the most. Matt is going going through so much and he has no one in his side. Poor Matt I can only imagine how he is feeling having to go through all this pain alone.

Matt it is hard for you being the underdog. Only you know in your heart how you feel. If your family, sadly, cannot accept you then you need to live your life on your own. Stay true to yourself and God bless you.

For a family to turn it’s back on a family member when they need help is just flat wrong. Or is it the production company calling the shots money speaks louder than family values .Company wants everything neat and tidy ,it could hurt the ratings and ratings mean sponsors and money .This family has not worked in years IF they lost sponsors and there go es the show they are out of money and so is the production company .ADIOS MATT YOUR NOT AS BIG AS THE DOLLAR SIGN

I find the Brown family is really terrible when it comes to family Ami should be ashamed of herself for deserting her son Matt. He has done nothing except be honest about his problem but not one of the family stood by him. I feel sad for Matt

Wow, it’s sure surprising how many people believe that humans are ultimately bad. The truth is we know nothing of their thoughts on this situation. The only thing we know is they all are in pain over the loss of Billy. I feel sadness for each of them and to poke hurtful opinions based on absolutely no facts just goes against all I understand as a human being. Everyone has hurts, everyone. Until your in their head, their shoes, no judgement is called for. As only condolence and prayers can be offered for each of them in this incredibly difficult time.

They way they preach about family and religion and the fact that they have turned their backs on Matt really disgusts me his mother to do that must really hurt him .I would hope at least one of his brothers would reach out to him he must be feeling very alone now and I wish him well
