Who is Ryan Ashley Malarkey?
Ryan was born in Dallas, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, on 29 April 1987 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds American nationality. She’s a tattoo artist and TV personality, probably known best for her appearance in the popular reality game-show “Ink Master”; it’s been running since 2012, today stars Dave Navarro, Chris Nunez and Oliver Peck, and each season follows 10 tattoo artists as they’re competing for the title ‘Ink Master’, as well as for a prize of $100,000. The series was nominated for a 2013 Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Reality Programs (Tim Warren).

Early life and education
Ryan was raised in Dallas by her single mother, who worked a couple of jobs to support herself and Ryan; she took accounting classes while working at a fast food restaurant, and was also an artist. Ryan hasn’t spoken about her father, and it’s said that he abandoned the family when she was still a toddler; because she hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, it’s widely believed that Ryan’s an only child.
She was around six years old when her mother began teaching her to draw; she then grew up being interested in painting, and was attending a local high school when she began thinking about becoming a fashion designer.
Upon matriculating in 2005, Ryan enrolled at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2007.
Ryan’s career
Rthenyan moved to New York City, and spent five years working at a private label as a fashion designer, in charge of designing various items, including embroidery, beadwork and lace details.
After she became bored with office work, Ryan moved back to Pennsylvania and began practicing tattooing. She initially worked at a street shop, in charge of taking walk-in requests, however, this only showed Ryan that she wanted to work with people who’d make appointments beforehand.
It was in 2013 that she and her colleague opened their own tattoo shop, The Strange and Unusual Oddities Parlor, in Kingston, Pennsylvania; the back of the shop was where Ryan tattooed customers, while the front was used for selling the antiques which she’d restored, as well as various other objects. As the shop began working quite well, Ryan and her colleague, with the help of their business partners, opened a taxidermy shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ryan’s mostly into doing black and white tattoos, and has tattooed various celebrities, including American singer-songwriter Maria Brink and American singer Ashley ‘Ash’ Costello.
Appearances in TV shows
It was in 2016 that Ryan won the eighth season of “Ink Master”, and to this day remains the only female to win on the show; she had previously been contacted by the producers, wanting her to compete in the earlier seasons, but Ryan was at that time focused on work.
In 2017 and 2018, she co-hosted the reality show “Ink Master: Angels”, which also starred Kelly Doty and Nikki Simpson, and follows Ashley and three other female tattoo artists who competed in the eighth season of “Ink Master”, as they’re travelling around the US, and working with some of the most popular names in the tattoo industry.
The year 2019 saw her appear in the reality show “Ink Master: Grudge Match”, which starred Anthony Michaels, Scott Nocero and Alexis Kovacs, and follows former “Ink Master” competitors as they’re now facing their biggest rivals.
Ryan has only a single other credit: she made a guest appearance in the 2021 episode “Patricia Heaton/Molly Bernard” of the popular talk-show “The Drew Barrymore Show”.
Love life and marriage with Arlo DiCristina
Ryan prefers to keep the details of her love life to herself, but there are still two people whom she’s been with, that the public knows about.
Sometime in the first half of the 2010s, Ryan was in a relationship with Josh Balz, who’s probably known best for being a former keyboardist of the American heavy metal band Motionless in White; the two were seen together in public on multiple occasions. They became engaged in 2014, but called it off a couple of months later, when they broke up for unknown reasons.
In the second half of 2019, Ryan exchanged vows with fellow tattoo artist Arlo DiCristina, in a small ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members. Ryan gave birth to their son Atheus in May 2020, and spoke about her and Arlo’s marriage and their son for the magazine “Inked”.
Ryan hasn’t mentioned any other men whom she’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, she’s married to Arlo DiCristina, and they have a son together.

Hobbies and other interests
Ryan’s a huge fan of social media, and seems to be enjoying the attention which she’s receiving from her more than 1.6 million followers; she’s uploaded nearly 1,500 pictures and videos onto the network, most of which feature her during her everyday life.
Ryan’s body is nearly entirely tattooed, many of which have been done by her.
She’s physically highly active, and has five to six training sessions at the gym every week, thus her slim figure; she’s also following a strict diet, as she avoids eating sweets and fast food.
Ryan likes to travel, and has been to many US states for both work and pleasure, and also to a couple of European countries: her dream travel destination being Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
She enjoys watching movies late at night – her favorite actor and actress are Al Pacino and Helena Bonham Carter, while some of her favorite films are “Fight Club”, “Scent of a Woman”, and “Scarface”.
