1. Physiological adaptation to a new environment or situation. Acclimatization to a hot environment may take as long as three weeks, during which undue exposure to heat, or strenuous exercise, may cause HEAT EXHAUSTION.
2. An environmentally-induced functional improvement in a genetically-determined physiological system.
