Saving Christmas!
We have several cats, and they have never bothered the Christmas tree in years past. Or so I thought. We upgraded to a bigger, better tree this year, and our youngest cat (3 years old), who gets into everything, discovered the joys of indoor tree climbing! Now I understand why sometimes I would find the lower branches on our old tree on the floor. Anyway, a squirt bottle helped while I was in the room, but what about when I was away? I sought advice from my group of fellow crazy cat ladies, and one recommended this.Of course, as soon as I ordered it, my cat decided the tree was no fun after all.Until my husband was walking on the treadmill and said, as casually as though asking what was for dinner, "Who's in the tree?"I looked over and sure enough, there was our little mischief maker scaling the tree like it was a race to see if she could get to be the star on top before I reached for the squirt bottle. I won, if anyone's keeping score. My next step was to set up this little motion activated gadget. I put the batteries in, turned it on, and waved my hand in front of it a few times. I'd been led to believe it let out a gentle puff of air when triggered. It does not. No, it let's out a violent blast of air with a corresponding hissing sound.Excellent.I put it under the tree, not entirely convinced it would work. After all, the cat could come at the tree from several directions, but it was worth a try!I was sitting on the couch with my older cat on my lap not even an hour later when I heard the tell tale hissing sound. My youngest came sprinting across the room as though the hounds of the Baskervilles were hot on her tail and couched in front of me staring at the Christmas tree like it had tried to eat her! She stayed like that, staring warily at the threatening spector of holiday cheer for nearly 20 minutes! Now, almost 24 hours later, she still won't go anywhere near it. I'm feeling much more confident about putting ornaments on its branches now.Today, my husband walked a little too close and it hissed at him, making him jump and squeal. He's afraid of the tree now, too. So, I guess I won't need to worry about him shaking the presents!Picture of our menace BEFORE placing the sscat under the tree for cat tax. I will update if she makes friends with the new cat eating monster that lives under the tree, but for now, I'm quite pleased.

not one single spray on the dresser near my bed, dresser that i had to replace already when my nice one got ruined by a culprit. i replaced it with a cheaper plastic like dresser thinking if they spray it, i can just wash it off and well yeah i could but, well can’t easily wash off crooks and cranny nor the darn floor in front of it easily!! so even though had some bad reviews i got two of these. one for putting in front of another new dresser and new carpet and it worked!! not only did it work and still does, i finally caught/verified the true culprit on first time running his little behind down them stairs faster than i’ve ever seen him run!! i don’t believe he has been back up to my room for weeks now, this thing seems to have scared him from my bedroom itself which well since he couldn’t behave, i am good with that for no more peeing in my room which is the only place he did so at (family member stayed with us for a couple months and used my room, they got a kitten while here so probably why my cat kept marking my room before buying thus sprayer). this sprayer is a little sensitive, it will spray air at me when i get out of bed too close to where sprayer is but better than it not being sensitive in the end i guess. i could turn it more towards dresser but, i found it did not pick up heat/motion half as well that way..

The other sprayer i bought to put on my plant cabinet downstairs at night for i got tired of having to put away all my plants every night cause my younger cat thinks they are toys, grabs one or two and even 5 once and the cats have a swat a plant party, he has already ruined a good dozen plus of my air plants. The sprayer works well for this as well but, the noise really scared the other cats as well (even our dog) and they hid for a long time so i don’t use this one anymore. these sprayer deterrents to me are best for important behavior issues like spraying and chewing when all else fails..

I was desperate to keep my cat off the counter. I had tried all the simple tricks and nothing worked, which brought me here. I saw the negative reviews, but was desperate enough to risk it. I received the product today and was so excited to try it out.

Immediately upon setting it up, I was squirted, which I took to be a good sign because that meant that it worked. I set it on my counter and waited for my cat to jump up by it. Instead, I watched it go off multiple times when there was no movement. It also would go off any time I was within 10 feet of it. This sucked, but I was optimistic that it’d deter my cat.

I was wrong. My cat jumped onto the counter, right next to the sensor. Nothing happened. He even nosed the can and it didn’t go off. I shooed my cat off the counter and hoped that he’d try again. He did, and, once again, the sensor didn’t go off. This repeated multiple times. I gave up on it working, so I stood up from where I was sitting, about ten feet away, and the sensor immediately went off, squirting nothing.

It didn’t take me more than a few hours to realize that this was a bad product. I hate returning items through Amazon, but for $50 I was willing to go through the hassle. I went to return the item, only to be told that this item is not eligible for returns. I reached out to the manufacturer and haven’t heard back yet. I will have to request a chargeback on my card if the seller won’t accept my return.

It works to repel cats but it is only appropriate for guarding a specific approach where you need to stop the cat but you won’t be crossing the same space yourself. Given how expensive the refills (and the units) are you don’t want the spray activating all the time.
