NEET 2024 exam date is May 5, 2024. The registrations are now closed and the NTA will issue the advance city intimation and admit card soon. Going by the trends, NEET 2024 admit card release date is expected to be April 30, 2024 and the city intimation will be out a week before. More than 23.81 lakh students are set to appear for NEET UG 2024 to qualify for MBBS/ BDS admissions in India.
NEET 2024 exam will consist of 200 MCQs out of which you must attempt only 180. The time allotted for the exam is 3 hours 20 minutes. The paper will be divided into 4 sections- chemistry, physics, zoology, and botany with each comprising 45 questions to be attempted. Like previous years, NEET 2024 is expected to be moderately challenging. It is highly recommended to focus on solving NEET previous year papers, sample papers, and mock tests to increase your chances of passing the exam. The minimum qualifying marks required for NEET range between 130-145 for the general category and 95-110 for OBC/ SC/ ST category. Will NEET UG 2024 be postponed?
NEET UG 2024 will not be postponed. NTA will conduct NEET 2024 as scheduled on May 5, 2024. It is advised to stay away from any misleading information and fake news regarding NEET (Undergraduate) 2024 postponement. It is important to focus only on exam preparation and revision to get a high score on the exam day.

NTA NEET Registraton 2024
Registration for NEET 2024 is closed. Initially, the registration dates were February 9 to March 16. Later, the application window was reopened on the request of candidates for 2 days- April 9 and 10, 2024. No new registrations are possible now on the official website. NEET City Allotment 2024
NEET city intimation 2024 informing the candidates about the allotted test city will be issued a week prior to the admit card release date. NEET city allotment 2024 is released only to assist the students in planning their commute for the exam day. NTA will most likely allot the exam city opted for in the application form, however, it is not guaranteed. NEET 2024 city intimation slip should not be mistaken as a substitute for the admit card. The city allotment slip is only for your information and not an entry ticket to the exam hall on May 5, 2024.
NEET 2024 Admit Card
NTA will issue NEET 2024 admit card to the successfully registered applicants a week before the exam date. NEET admit card is the mandatory document required on the exam day. Without a printed copy of NEET UG admit card 2024, the candidate will not be allowed to take the examination. NEET admit card 2024 download link will be provided on neet.ntaonline.in and exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. The details that will be mentioned in the hall ticket include the roll number and application number, category, language medium, exam center address, reporting time, and exam day instructions.

NEET admit card 2024 release date is yet to be announced by the NTA. Based on the trends, NEET admit card 2024 release date is expected to be April 30, 2024.
NEET 2024 Dress Code and Exam Day Guidelines
NEET 2024 dress code is fixed by the NTA to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examination. As per NEET 2024 dress code for female and male candidates, light clothes with half sleeves and sandals/ slippers are allowed.
- Shoes, high heels, heavy clothes with large buttons and too many pockets are not allowed.
- Simple trousers should be preferred over jeans and track pants.
- Customary dresses are allowed on the condition that you need to report by 12:30 to the exam center.
Apart from the dress code, there are certain other dos and don’ts to follow for the exam day. NTA NEET exam day guidelines are updated here for your reference.
NEET Exam Day Dos
- Carry a printout of the admit card with a valid ID proof in original.
- Reach the exam center by 1:30 pm as entry will be closed thereafter.
- Carry a passport size photograph to paste on the attendance sheet.
- Follow the instructions of the invigilators and cooperate with the staff during the frisking process.
- Put a thumb impression and sign on the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator.
NEET Exam Day Don’ts
- Do not try to cheat or indulge in any unfair means to avoid disqualification.
- Do not leave the seat once the exam begins. No one can leave the exam hall before 5:20 pm.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the exam center.
- Do not carry any eatables inside the exam hall. Only diabetics can carry basic needs items with prior intimation.
- Do not carry any electronic items, gadgets, wallets, belts, calculators, jewelry, stationery, and bags & glasses.
NEET 2024 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
As per NEET 2024 exam pattern, there are 200 questions divided equally into chemistry, physics, zoology, and botany. There is an internal choice provided in NEET question paper 2024, so only 180 questions have to be answered. For each subject, there are 2 sections- section A with 35 questions and section B with 15 questions (to attempt only 10). The subject-wise NEET exam pattern and total marks are provided below:

NEET Marking Scheme 2024
NEET marking scheme 2024 provides for 4 marks for each question along with a negative marking of 1 mark. Marks are not deducted for leaving a question unattempted.

NEET 2024 Passing Marks
NEET passing marks out of 720 are released by the NTA along with the result. NEET passing marks are the minimum marks required to qualify for the counselling. It varies according to the category of the candidates. The expected range of NEET passing marks 2024 out of 720 for each category is provided here after expert discussion:

Scoring the minimum NEET passing marks does not guarantee admission to the colleges. NEET passing marks for MBBS in top government colleges is high. For MBBS in colleges like AIIMS Delhi, MAMC Delhi, SMS Jaipur, etc, a score of 650+ is required in NEET 2024.
NEET Cut off- Previous Years Qualifying Marks
NEET qualifying percentile is 50 for GEN/ EWS, 40 for OBC/ ST/ SC, and 45 for GEN/ EWS- PwD. The corresponding qualifying marks for each category in the last 3 years are:

NEET 2024 Answer Key
NEET 2024 answer key pdf will be released in the last week of May 2024 by the NTA. NEET 2024 answer key by NTA will be released for each paper code only on exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. Using the answer key and recorded responses, you can calculate your scores and get an idea of your admission chances.
NEET answer key 2024 will be available for challenge for 2-3 days on neet.ntaonline.in against a fee payment of INR 200 per question. Based on the challenges received and accepted after expert review, NTA will prepare the final answer key and release it along with the result.
NEET 2024 OMR Sheet
NEET 2024 OMR Sheet will be released by the NTA along with the answer key. NEET OMR sheet release date 2024 is the last week of May 2024. NEET OMR sheet 2024 pdf download link will be available on neet.ntaonline.in and exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. NTA NEET OMR sheet contains the responses marked by the candidate on the exam day. Comparing the responses with the official answer key, the scores can be calculated.
NEET 2024 Result
NEET 2024 result date and time is June 14, 2024 (after 5:00 pm). NTA will release NEET 2024 result link online on the official website. To check NTA NEET result 2024, one needs to login with his/ her application number and password. NEET UG scorecard will not be sent via post or email to any candidate. The details included in NEET 2024 result cum scorecard are the total marks out of 720, percentile score, AIR, and the category-wise qualifying marks.
The marks and percentile mentioned in the scorecard are final and there is no provision for rechecking and revaluation. NEET 2024 score will remain valid for admission in the current academic year, i.e. 2024-25 only.
NEET (UG) 2024 Result PDF
NEET 2024 result PDF will be out on exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. The PDF will contain the complete result statistics including the state-wise details, number of students who appeared and qualified, gender and category-wise statistics, toppers list, cut off marks and percentile, post result details, and more.
NEET 2024 Toppers List
NEET 2024 toppers list will be available after the declaration of result. NTA releases gender-wise, category-wise, and state-wise list of NEET toppers in the result pdf. The toppers list of NEET mentions the name, marks out of 720, percentile scores, AIR, category, and state of the top 50 scorers. Last year, only 2 students secured 720 and bagged AIR 1 followed by AIR 3 with 716 marks.
NEET 2024 Merit List
NEET merit list provides the rank-wise arrangement of all the qualified candidates. All India NEET 2024 merit list will be prepared by the NTA after the declaration of result. This is shared with the MCC for carrying out NEET AIQ counselling for admission to 15% seats in government medical colleges and 100% seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, central & deemed universities.
For the 85% seats in government colleges and 100% seats in the private colleges in a state, each state has a separate counselling. It is carried out by the state authorities designated for the purpose by NMC. Each state will release NEET 2024 merit list based on the candidates registered for the state quota counselling.
NEET 2024 All India Rank List: Tie- breaking Criteria
While preparing the NEET 2024 All India Rank List, NTA needs a definite criteria to rank students with equal scores in the exam. For this purpose, NTA has defined NEET tie-breaking criteria for assigning ranks to the candidates.
- One with higher marks in Biology is ranked higher.
- If the tie persists, then one with higher marks in chemistry is given a higher rank.
- Then, marks in physics are considered for breaking the tie.
- If the tie still does not break, one with less proportion of incorrect and correct answers is ranked better in the merit list.
- Finally, the tie is broken based on a smaller proportion of incorrect and correct answers in biology, chemistry and physics respectively.

NEET 2024 Seat Intake

For BDS, AYUSH, B.Sc Nursing, BVSc. & AH, the total NEET seat intake is approx. 27868, 52 720, 487 and 603 respectively.
Difference Between AIQ and State Quota Seats in NEET
AIQ quota refers to the 15% of the total seats in government colleges in all states. State quota covers the remaining 85% seats in government colleges of each state. For AIQ seat allotment, MCC is responsible for carrying out the counselling while for 85% State Quota seat allotment, each state’s designated authority is responsible for carrying out the counselling. All candidates are eligible for the AIQ (All India Quota) counselling irrespective of the domicile state while for the 85% state quota seats, the eligibility of the respective state has to be fulfilled.
NEET 2024 Counselling for AIQ Seats
NEET Counselling is the admission process post declaration of exam result for the qualified eligible candidates. NEET 2024 counselling for AIQ seats, AIIMS, JIPMER, and Central Universities will be conducted by the MCC.
NEET counselling is an online process involving registration on mcc.nic.in, choice filling for course and college, declaration of seat allotment result, and reporting at the allotted college for admission confirmation & document verification. The documents required for NEET UG counselling 2024 include the NEET admit card, scorecard, class 10 and 12 certificate & marksheet, allotment letter, and passport size photographs.
NEET 2024 counselling registration also includes the non-refundable fee payment depending on the choice of college.

Ques. How many seats are reserved for each category in the medical and dental colleges in India?
Ans. As per the Government of India rules for category-wise reservation of seats, 27% seats are reserved for OBC-NCL students, 15% seats for SC students, 10% seats for EWS category, and 7.5% seats for ST students. Under the seats reserved for each category, there is a further 5% reserved seats for PwD students (those with a benchmark disability of 40% or more).
