Minihost Modular is a modular environment for hosting/interconnecting VST/AU plugins based on a custom modular engine especially developed for this purpose. As a standalone, Minihost Modular can be used as an advanced VST/AU host with modular routing with some sequencing recording/playback capabilities. As a VST/AU plugin, Minihost Modular can be used to extend your existing DAW software with a powerful modular environment. Minihost Modular bares some similarities to FL Studio's Patcher but has an extended capability as a self contained host.

If it's just "RTFM", no problemo, but is there a quick list of changes?

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
The problems I discovered has not been fixed yet.
First: http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.p ... 56#p883356
I noticed that problem using PC keyboard (pressing C5) on VSTs, that will hold the key without release it (there is no note release message due to the VST focus). That's ok. But the piano roll remains a problem.
Second: http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.p ... 66#p883666
The same with the new beta.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Still permanently passing audio (Please don't say it works in FLS, I am testing outside of FLS)
Still doesn't scan one NI plugin (I can double check this, forgot to note which one it failed on) - Also noted here that the scan is now way way faster
Doesn't crash Maschine anymore, but still does not appear as an effect (understandable if it is compiled as an instrument)
X64/Win 8 Pro/Reaper/Maschine/Renoise
Last two things here then
1 The passing audio all the time
2 Could do with being compiled as an effect too (For hosts like Maschine)

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
I try to automate plugin parameters from plugins inside Minihost modular in Reaper. In Reaper I can see a list of 200 Minihost modular parameters, but no information about what each parameter does. When I try the "last touched"-method, Reaper does not receive any information from Minihost modular when plugin knobs are tweaked. Is Minihost modular supposed to send this information to third party DAWs?

VST scan - Standalone MiniHost 64bit
Is it normal that scans the whole C: drive for VSTs?
Just tried now with the 64bit standalone MiniHost.
I've set one custom folder where all my 64bit plugins are installed,
pressed Scan and verify and it lists many doubled entries and also 32bit plugins.

It scans your default VST directories. There shouldn't be doubles though - that seems to be a bug.9loops wrote:VST scan - Standalone MiniHost 64bit

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Yes, it creates doubles. And there is the separate problem of the 64 bit version (in Windows 8, at least) listing 32 bit plugins along with 64 bit plugins. Since there is no way to distinguish between the two, the user must click on one, discover that it is the 32 bit plugin that will not load, close it, and then try the other one. Much better if the 64 bit version only listed 64 bit plugins when the user wanted to load a plugin.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
First impressions(OSX)...
1) Text is very small on the top toolbar (Swing, Metronome…). Its about equivalent to Helvetica 10 and the type for shortcuts in the drop-down menus is closer to an 8 or 7. On my iMac 27" monitor that is hard to see.
2) Would it be possible to separate the AU's and VST's into separate categories when accessing the context menu (right-click)? The redundancy in the list makes it huge.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Not sure if this is related to the issue NAS is having but... On my system, on first install the default in for audio was the system mic. I chose Zebra from the plugin list and by default the audio was connected. I held a note on the keyboard and got some wicked feedback. Not an issue disconnecting that "audio-in" but it was an unexpected surprise. Weird thing is that I almost never run my system without my Pro40 connected. However, I to relocate to another room for a short period and I am running barebones for a while.
Just a word of caution.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
1. Also, of note, I am on OSX 10.6.8 The plugin version is 32bit but the standalone installed as 64bit. Not a big deal other than I can't use 32bit plugs with the 64bit standalone. Is there a 32bit install option for the standalone version?
2. (plugin) (Reaper4.581) The initial opening of some plugs gui's will be blank or garbled. Minimizing them and then maximizing them will fix the problem but they will do that each time they are opened. This has happened so far with only my plugs that are 32bit only like CamelPhat for instance.
3. (standalone) I opened a piano roll and inserted a few notes (plugin=Zebra2). Changing the velocity did not change the volume of the notes.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Asked in the last topic, got the wrong answer:
I am trying to tie two seperate audio input devices (mic in, line in, virtual input etc) to the Minihost Standalone. Adding and input node doesn't let me use a seperate input device, all of them use the same device, the one I choose in the preferences screen. Is there any way to achieve what I'm trying to do in Minihost? If not, is that a planned feature?
Thanks.

Like others already said, it look everywhere for the plug-ins, instead of just to pre-defined places. IMO, you should first aks user where are the plug-in folders that are supposed to be scanned, and only then scan ONLY those folders.
Besides that, it seems to be working OK in my Mac. I could even load plug-ins that others hosts refused to launch
keep the good work. Regards

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
It would be great to open up Minihost Modular with an initial graph file. Just click on a graph file and Minihost opens up with this graph loaded. Is there some kind of parameter which I can pass to the program?
It would also be nice if the midi keyboard could be switched off if not needed, e.g. if I use the modular view but I don't need the midi keyboard.
Also in plugin view there is only the currently selected plugin. It would be nice to have some kind of selection which plugin is shown in plugin view (e.g. all in one rack or by selection from a dropdown list).

Indeed my answer was short. The reason for this is that I wrote down nearly every single remark into a textfile while coding and then checked the issues one by one, so when I couldn't reproduce this I just wrote (for myself) "not true" and basically ended up copy/pasting the whole sentence. You'll notice that many of my answers were very brief.Scott wrote:EDIT: I have found the thread for the record.NAS_ wrote:after pretty much being called a liar by the developer on the previous thread and then posting a video that proved what i stated, yeah i am the one with the attitude

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Sorry Scott, but I don't mean this. I mean: Minihost is a VST, but can load only VST. The Piano Roll inside Minihost is a nice feature, and I'd like to use Native Plugins (FPC for example) triggering it with the Piano Roll inside Minihost.Scott wrote:Minihost Modular is available as a VST, so you can use it now. So, if it won't be integrated with Patcher, would be nice got it as VST (such an external "arpeggiator", like Melodo, BlueArp or Kirnu).
Do you see what I mean now?

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Is there anyone here trying to use Mini Host in the Mac Beta of FL Studio?
This is what I've done:
1. I download the Windows installer (not the Mac AU).
2. I used Stuffit Expander to unzip the Windows installer (as I know the Mac cannot unzip Windows files with its built-in unzip utility).
3. Then, I ran the FL Studio Mac Beta.
4. From the File menu, I selected the Run Command.
5. I then clicked Browse and located the unzipped Windows installer for Mini Host and then clicked Run.
6. The installer started, I followed the instructions and installed it (without changing anything).
7. When it finished, I went to Channels, Add One, More...
8. I then clicked Refresh and selected Fast Scan.
Now, here's the problem...
It should show up in the plugin list (highlighted in red to show its a newly installed device) and you should be able to select it, but it's not there!
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm crossing my fingers to the breaking point that we'll this automation for the FL 12 piano roll. It's beautiful!
I don't have anything to contribute otherwise, just thought I'd drop by and say that this is really really cool. Makes me very excited to see what other cool stuff you have cooking.
I haven't used Patcher too much, but it does seems to me that Minihost makes it obsolete. There's a lot of stuff Minihost can do that Patcher can't, but is there anything Patcher can do that Minihost can't?

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Hi Everyone,
I downloaded the latest beta, and am experiencing some isolated clicks and pops in the audio (standalone version), even though I have my buffer set very high. I am using ASIO4ALL, and don't have any issues with other plugins/standalone products using this version of ASIO4ALL. I realize that this is still in beta, but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing something similar.
Thanks!
PS - other than this issue, I think MiniHost is really great. It is perfect for setting up and saving instrument/effects chains for later use, especially for inputting as audio into Reason.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
I've got now what you meant with this; so just tried, but seems that MiniHost (loaded as VST inside Patcher) does not output MIDI.Scott wrote:Minihost Modular is available as a VST, so you can use it now. Just load a Piano roll in it with connection to the output.
Two Mini's Piano Roll zones, which play different at C5 and C#5. The first zone output on Midi Channel 1, the second on Channel 2. Than, on Patcher, a VFX Color Map sort the two outputs to Harmor or Sytrus.
But No Audio is coming from the Output of Patcher... (neither no MIDI from MiniHost loaded as VST, which is the problem I guess).
Apart that, yes: now this could be a solution. But pretty quick if I can do the same inside Patcher... without load MiniHost every time.

Re: Minihost Modular Beta 2
Hi Image Line. Thanks for the beta plugin. I would like to file two bugs tickets:
PLATFORM:
Ableton Live 9.1.1 Standard (32 bit mode)
i7 - Macbook Air Mid 2013
Mac OSX 10.9.2
KV331 Synthmaster 2.6.8 (Audio Unit - 32 bit mode)
Output is the built-in Mac sound card & driver.
Ableton is setup with only the output driver enabled.
BUG #1: The UI for the plugin does not appear until you click on it.
To recreate the bug:
1. Start with an empty module
2. Right click to add a plugin and select Synthmaster (AU3264)
3. The plugin window is white as shown in this screenshot 4. Clicking on the white part will refreshes the window and the plugin appears as expected Closing the plugin window will repeat the bug. When you double click on the plugin in the module, it will be white until you click inside the plugin window again. My DAW makes sounds and plays music as expected.
BUG #2: Some of the letters in the Piano Roll are not visible
To recreate the bug:
1. Right click on the module to add a piano roll
2. The letters are visibly missing as shown. Refreshing the window by closing and re-opening it does not resolve the bug. My DAW makes sounds and plays music as expected.
Thanks Image Line. I'm looking forward to the full release.
