Felicity Kendall Huffman is an American actress born on December 9, 1962, in Bedford, New York, in a rich family, the daughter of Grace Valle and Moore Peters Huffman, a banker and partner at Morgan Stanley. Her parents separated a year after her birthday, but they both raised Felicity.

Tragically, when Huffman was a happy young teenager in a wealthy family, she found out her father was not her biological father. Actually, her biological father was Roger Tallman Maher, a family friend.

Her nickname is Flicka, and it is what her family and friends used to call her. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, she explained that although when she was born, her mother named her “Flicka,” she had to change it because it was not a Christian name, but she still uses it as her nickname.

Her nickname “Flicka” means “girl” in Swedish, and it originates from the book and movie My Friend Flicka. It was a childhood favorite about a frisky young colt.

She grew up with six sisters and one brother and later on had to change homes. In the 1970s, their mother moved from New York and bought a property in Snowmass, Colorado, Flicka, and her siblings spent their youth there.

Felicity Huffman was one of the bevies of forty-something housewives on the popular T.V. show Desperate Housewives, and she married actor William Macy on September 6, 1997. Huffman graduated from New York City’s Tisch School of the Arts. She became an actress who selected unique roles, such as a special role as a trans in 2005’s Transamerica, which led her to win a Golden Globe.

After graduating from high school, Felicity Huffman studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She then went to N.Y. University and entered into the city’s theatrical world.

One of Felicity’s idols is Tina Turner, an American-born Swiss singer, dancer, and actress.

On one of Oprah Winfrey’s episodes, “Wildest Dreams” segments, Huffman’s dream became real when she found a chance to be a backup singer next to Tina Turner.

Huffman also sang backup vocals for her friend Rebecca Pidgeon to cover the version of Auld Lang Syne/Bring It On Home To Me.

Felicity Huffman’s Career Life

Huffman became a founding member of the Atlantic Theater Company. She made her Broadway presentation in David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow and grabbed Karen from Madonna in 1988. Huffman stepped on her acting career in the theatre, and in the 90s, had many supporting roles in film and television.

She starred in the role of Dana Whitaker in the Sports Night, comedy-drama, from 1998 to 2000, which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. She is famous for her role as Lynette Scavo in the ABC comedy-drama Desperate Housewives. She could reach the Primetime Emmy Award for her role in a Comedy Series for the debut season of the series.

She also got three Screen Actors Guild Awards and three consecutive Golden Globe nominations.

Felicity worked for nearly twenty years in Broadway plays, T.V. shows, and films independently from her successful husband. Then she took the part of Lynette Scavo in the T.V. series Desperate Housewives in 2004, and next year, Bree in the film Transamerica resulting in a Golden Globe nomination for both.

She performed on Broadway in David Mamet’s Feed the Plow and co-founded the New York Atlantic Theater Company and Mamet and her husband. By making her feature-film debut in 1988 in Mamet’s comedy-drama Things Change, Huffman continued acting in made-for-TV movies.

She worked in various other fields, including small roles in Reversal of Fortune, Hackers, Magnolia, and The Spanish Prisoner. She proudly won an Obie award for her perfect work in the off-Broadway production in 199. The off-Broadway production was David Mamet’s Cryptogram.

One interesting fun fact is that she voiced Betty Director on the Disney Channel animated series Kim Possible and played Lindsay Davis in Raising Helen.

Felicity Huffman’s Arrestment Story

And the day finally came when the dark side of Hoffman’s life appeared before her fans’ astonished eyes. This kind and successful woman with innocent eyes became a lawbreaker.

On March 12, 2019, police arrested Felicity for her association with a cheating scandal in a national college entrance exam.

On Friday in Boston, Massachusetts, the Hollywood actress was sentenced to 14 days in federal prison for her controversial role in the college admissions conspiracy.

She was one amongst 40 others involved in bribes to convince admissions in elite U.S. colleges to accept her daughter. She was charged for crimes connected with payments of up to 6 million dollars used to accept children into schools, including Yale, Stanford, Georgetown, and USC.

It was the most significant college admission fraud ever recorded in the U.S. The feel-good Hollywood couple Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy made a $150,000 donation to the Key Worldwide Foundation. This money would help “provide educational and self-enrichment programs to disadvantaged youth.” Could this be a simple act of kindness? Not quite.

The commission accused wealthy parents such as Hollywood actresses, coaches, and college prep executives of being involved in the biggest college admissions scam ever prosecuted. This nationwide fraud gets students unfairly into prestigious universities.

Felicity Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in jail for her role in the college admissions cheating scandal.

On May 13, the popular television actress Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty to federal charges for paying $15,000 to heighten her eldest daughter’s SAT score.

This shocking news was too embarrassing for Felicity, her famous husband, and his children, especially her eldest daughter, who had all her educational efforts questioned.

On September 13, she was sentenced to 14 days in prison. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani additionally condemned Huffman, the former star of the popular television series Desperate Housewives and Academy Award candidate, to pay a $30,000 compensation, in addition to a year of under-supervision release and to pass 250 hours of community service.

But a question still remains; why was Felicity Hoffman sentenced to only 14 days in jail?

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Rosen stated captivity was the only way to punish a wealthy person like Huffman, whose real currency is credit.

“In prison, there are no paparazzi. It’s the great leveler,” Rosen stated.

Huffman’s lawyer, Martin Murphy, told the actress and especially her daughter Sophia had suffered enough and urged the judge to limit probation.

In the days following Huffman’s arrest, her daughter’s top choice college rescinded her acceptance.

Actress Felicity Huffman, the first parent, sentenced in a wide-ranging U.S. college admissions cheating scandal, was given a 14-day prison term on Friday and made an apology tearfully in federal court for paying to rig her girl’s entrance exam.

“My first apology is to you,” Huffman, wearing a black dress, announced the judge quickly before being sentenced.

“I realize now as a mother that love and truth must go hand in hand, and love at the expense of truth is not real love,” the actress added. “I will deserve whatever punishment you give me.”

Huffman was freed from court after the judge ordered her to report to prison on October 25. Her husband, actor William H. Macy, seated in the courtroom, immediately neared her after the court dismissed and covered her shoulders.

After Felicia Hoffman was sentenced to 14 days in prison, she published a statement expanding her apology.

“I especially want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices supporting their children,” Huffman said in the statement. “My hope now is that my family, my friends, and my community will forgive me for my actions,” Huffman added.

Felicity Huffman’s Jail started on October 15, 2019.

She reported to federal prison on October 15.

The judge mentioned that Huffman took steps in order “to get one more advantage” for her girl in a system “already so distorted by money and privilege.”

The federal court released Felicity due to a bureau policy that let convicts leave before the freedom date that “falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, on the last preceding weekday unless it is necessary to detain the inmate for another jurisdiction seeking custody under a detainer, or for any other reason which might indicate that the inmate should not be released until the inmate’s scheduled release date,” based on what the BOP reported.

Huffman “will begin serving the remainder of the sentence Judge Talwani imposed, one year of supervised release, with conditions including 250 hours of community service — when she is released,” her spokesperson answered in a declaration at the start of her prison period.

Felicity Huffman’s sentence was finally completed. Congratulation to her family, friends, and fans.

According to her spokesperson, the 57-year-old actress has finished her full sentence that included prison time, community service, and supervised report, for her role in the nationwide exam cheating scandal.

The Desperate Housewives alum’s legal group explained that Felicity has all part of her punishment for the notorious fraud situation completely. Above all, she’d passed her 14 days prison sentence in a federal facility in California.

The controversial star has successfully finished 250 hours of public service, plus her probationary period and supervised release after her brief time in jail last year (2019).

The celebrity can now have her passport back, and she is not on the hook using a probation officer or other law enforcement to assess whether or not made accessible at a minute’s notice. We are happy for Felicity, who could go through something very troublesome and watch it from the end of the dark days.

A Look at the Personal Life of Huffman

Felicity dated actor William Macy on and off for near 15 years before they married on September 6, 1997.

They have two pretty daughters together, Sophia and Georgia. She was active on T.V., movies, and stage for several years with her husband; the two each won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 7, 2012.

Felicity has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Actors Branch.

After this unfortunate news for the family, Felicity Huffman’s oldest daughter, Sophia Macy, was accepted to a top university in drama.

19-year-old Sophia clearly stated the news by adding “CMU Drama ‘24” to her Instagram bio, which reportedly mentioned Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.

University’s website announced that CMU’s drama department is considered the “first degree-granting drama institution” in the U.

The news was published just months after Huffman served 11 controversial days in prison.

Huffman and William H. Macy’s younger daughter, beautiful and bright Georgia, 18, revealed late last year that she wants to attend Vassar College and is expected to graduate in 2024.

People magazine says Huffman is “so proud” of Georgia’s recent accomplishment, adding that Sophia has “kept her chin up” in the last year after the national scandal.

Meanwhile, a report claims Huffman can get back into acting once the COVID-19 pandemic recedes.

According to someone close to the family, however, Felicity is currently spending her days at home and quarantining with her family, is “hopeful” she will make a comeback in the entertainment industry in early 2021.

About Felicity Huffman’s Family

William H. Macy

American blue-green eye actor, director, and writer, best-known for Fargo, Shameless, and Magnolia, William Hall Macy Jr, March 13, 1950, was born in Miami, Florida.

Like his wife, he is a voice actor and voiced Lefty Maginness in the animated film, Everyone’s Hero.

His nickname is “Willie,” which was given to him by his best friends the first time he attended Bethany College in Bethany, and he uses the name William H. Macy not to be confused with comedian Bill Macy.

He and Felicity Huffman share two daughters: the older one, Sofia Macy (Sofia Grace Macy), was born on August 1, 2000. Georgia Macy (Georgia Grace Macy) was born about two years later, on March 14, 2002.

Huffman opened up about the tricks that make her marriage work. The blonde actress announced she and her husband have a couple of rules for their marriage that keeps it running smoothly.

Huffman explained sadly: “Once a week we do sit down and make sure we take half an hour, each person gets 15 minutes, just to talk, with no crosstalk. I talk, then you talk. You kind of just deeply check in with the other person. When you have 15 minutes to talk, which is endless, by the way, and if you want to sit there in silence you can, but when you have 15 minutes to talk, you kind of actually see what’s going on with the other person without any talk-back.”

The long-time couple usually works together professionally, which dates back to their careers in theater, and there’s another rule they care about: No talking about acting in bed.

She continued: “There were a lot of times where he’d go, ‘I have an idea for that,’ and I’d go, ‘Hang on!’ And we’d get out of bed and we’d talk about it, now it’s fine. Now we’re too old to get out of bed.”

From 2016 till now, William H. Macy has played in three films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, including Seabiscuit and Room.

He has an exact role in the Felicity Huffman scandal. He is named in court documents as Huffman’s husband, however, not by name, and was not accused.

Sophia Grace Macy

Sophia Grace Macy is Felicity Huffman’s older daughter.

She was born on August 1, 2000, and is an American student, actress, and celebrity kid from Los Angeles, California.

According to Huffman, in 2019, Sophia was unaware that her parents had fixed her SAT scores. She added that Sophia “knew absolutely nothing” about the plan.

In a letter to a judge, Huffman wrote that Sophia was shocked when discovering her parents’ plan. Embarrassed, Felicity stated, “When my daughter looked at me and asked with tears streaming down her face, ‘Why didn’t you believe in me? Why didn’t you think I could do it on my own?’ I had no adequate answer for her, I could only say, ‘I am sorry.’”

Sophia has been accepted into Carnegie Mellon University’s theatre program following her mother’s scandal! The 19-year-old actor announced the news by updating her Instagram bio with “CMU Drama ’24 🤍♥️.”

Sophia is following her parents’ path. Before studying acting in college, she previously proved her abilities in high school.

Her father told in January 2019, “My daughter Sophia, the oldest, is going to LAHSA, she’s thriving there. I know she’s going to make a go of it in the business, which I support. I’ve seen her; she’s good, she’s really good.”

Georgia Grace Macy

Georgia is Huffman and Macy’s younger daughter. These days, she stays out of the spotlight. Her father did give Parade a hint about Georgia’s favorites: “My daughter Georgia, she’s interested in politics, political science, and pursuing that,” he said. “She’s in a very academic school and killing it.”

She is going to attend Vassar College in the fall. We wish Georgia the best.
