THE WASHINGTON FISH AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE “COMMISSION’S ADA ADVISORY COMMITTEE” FOR REGION 1-6 POSITIONS.
The Americans with Disability Act Advisory Committee (ADAAC) to the Fish and Wildlife Commission consists of Washington residents with disabilities or experience with supporting residents with a disability and represent each of the agency designated administrative regions, and one member at large. The Advisory Committee represents the interests of disabled hunters, fishers, and wildlife viewers on matters pertaining to special hunts, modified sporting equipment, barriers to access to public lands, WDFW managed lands as well as hunting and fishing opportunities.
- Provide advice and recommendations to the Fish and Wildlife Commission regarding accessibility issues brought forth by the Department, Constituents, and/or Commission members.
- Provide advice and recommendations to Department Staff regarding accessibility issues in the Regions.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
- Advisory Committee members are selected to represent each of the Department of Fish and Wildlife’s six administrative regions and 1 at large position.
- 1 committee member must serve as a chair and regional representative.
- Each position serves a four-year term.
- The committee must meet at least semi-annually or at other times as requested by the majority of the members. Currently the committee meets monthly.
- A majority of Members currently serving on the advisory committee constitutes a quorum.
- Members serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for travel expenses (lodging, meals, and transportation).
- Members are or individuals acting on their behalf are immune to civil liability for official acts performed in the course of their duties.
Committee Members must:
- Communicate the experience and challenges of people with disabilities who are involved in hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing in your region of Washington State.
- Present proposals addressing challenges people with disabilities encounter accessing WDFW facilities, lands, and waterways.
- Collaborate and work on committees with shared visions.
- Motivated to advocate for persons with disabilities.
- Available to travel and attend meetings.
- Have computer knowledge and access to internet to attend meetings.
