Looking for an online multiplayer card game similar to Legends of Runeterra and Hearthstone

I tried Hearthstone, but didn't like the set rotations. I played Legends of Runeterra for years, but then they implemented set rotations, and now the muliplayer is basically getting zero support anymore.

I wanted to like MTG Arena, because I love MTG, but I only like the commander format and it doesn't seem like Arena has any of that.

I also liked Gwent until it stopped getting updates.

Is there anything else like any of these games that have online multiplayer? I tried looking on steam but every game that has cards in it are lumped together, like having Slay the Spire next to stuff like MTG Arena.

If you like Mtg, give Eternal a try. It got the same land system as Magic.

Did you try Shadowverse and/or Ariokan?

Edited

Faeria is old but fun. Not as big of a player base as there used to be but the community is pretty great and it doesn’t take too long to find a game. Maybe a couple of minutes.

There is also Duelyst 2, which is fun, uses pixel art. If that matters. Good game.

Chrono is in development. But quickly advancing. I’d keep an eye out for that as well.

I was in the same boat as you, and spent a lot of time searching, Faeria, Eternal and LoR are what I ended up on.

Could also look into Marvel Duel but you can’t download in from North American IP.

Keep an eye out for Shadowverse Next, announced in December and slated for launch this Summer.

We'd love you to try out our game!

We're always looking for fans of card games to offer us feedback and dive into the game. We just launched a new PvP mode too!

Oh I saw your game a while back, but the screen clutter in the trailer was a bit of a turn-off. I'll give it a try anyway

Early access games with small playerbases is kind of a hard sell for a lot of people.

If set rotations aren't your thing, it's going to be hard to find a game you're going to spend a long time with. It introduces new cards, as well as gives the creators chances to refresh or reuse old ideas to keep players coming back and spending money.

That said, Dragon Ball Super Fusion World may not implement a rotation. Masters didn't. The play style has some similarities to the games you've mentioned but it's pretty different. Digital client is pc only (for now, hopefully), and it's currently on its first set. The BIG downside is if you're f2p, earning gems right now is really fucking awful lol. They give you so little. But it parallels the physical game, so if you buy real packs you'll get code cards for the digital version, like Pokémon.

The game itself is really really fun to play, but the client has some match making issues (randomly you'll get somebody way out of your rank), and like I said earning gems is total ass. I'm taking a bit of a break until the next set drops, personally, but I'm so excited to see how it develops. I love it. It's a bit underground in terms of player numbers, as all Bandai card games are except maybe One Piece.

Have you tried Marvel Snap?

You should try to play actual 1v1 MTG, it's sooooo much better than Commander. But if you can't do that, the only options left would be Eternal and Shadowverse. Shadowverse is in a weird limbo at the moment because the sequel(?)/new iteration comes out in June, but it's been my favorite digital TCG.

Eternal card game. The best choice for you if you like MTG

Basically either Eternal or maybe also another web3 game Skyweaver (free to play and you can earn a bit)

I love that you asked for multiplayer card games and no one has recommended one. I've been looking for a multiplayer digital card game for years and there really isn't one that's taken off yet... tbh I didn't even know LoR had multiplayer. My fingers are still crossed that MtGA gets commander and / or 2v2 in the future.

I think there's a definition mismatch here. Are you taking "multiplayer" to be more than 2 players ala Commander and 2 headed giant?

I think OP was just contrasting vs single player games like Slay the Spire. And the LoR developers are no longer focused on playing against other players, they're focusing more on the single player mode.

Yeah that’s why I meant. As much as I’m interested in Slay the Spire and Beneath Oresa, it’s just not what I’m looking for at the moment. I like deck builders, like Inscryption, but I’m looking for something not single player right now.

Try God's Unchained.

Isn't God's Unchained an NFT game?

Yes, you can enjoy it even no investment. I just bought cards for about 10usd to earn $Gods(token) for future upgrades. But you can grind the game and can get cards. Leveling gives you free packs but its not minted, every 10 or so level give you epic pack. Its a fun game, it's up to you if you wanna invest or nah. I also came from HS,LoR and MTGa

Mythgard has done 2v2 so well, my favorite under appreciated card game out there. The 2v2 community is also very helpful if you want to link up on their discord to find a partner/game
