Hanukkah Prayers: How to Say the Menorah Blessings

Always learning I still found a few questions to ask this year. Tonight after my Havdalah observance & lighting tonight's Menorah, I discovered 2 unanswered questions.
The 1st one arose when I lit the Menorah as one Chanukah candle's wick was very stubborn & would not light even after checking & straightening ahead of time. Finally lit on 5th try with the Shamash but I question, is to keep trying acceptable or should I have moved on to the next candle sooner?
My 2nd question was the match used to light the Menorah. As I've learned my lesson & stopped using little books of fast-buring matches during the service to avoid burned fingers, this year switched over to wooden kitchen matches. But when I struck the match to light the Shamash, I heard the strike, saw the sparks& the match broke in half unused. Too short to attempt 2nd strike I used another match. Was this the right thing to do, I know I can rekindle the Chanukah candles once but does this count? Chag Hanukkah Sameach! Reply

Each year after Hanukkah has passed it feels a little blue (no pun intended ha ha!) There is so much effort, goodness and love surrounding this period of time for me that I hate to see it stop and I continue to light my battery decorations for the remaining weeks of December.
Revising my notes for next year, I make my corrections - and I'm happy to say 'additions' for things I've learned. For me this year, it was the hour longer during Shabbat. When mapping out my Hanukkah week sunsets, I've always thought I must have just miscalculated Shabbat. But I realize now that we celebrate this time a little longer at 25 hours on purpose.

Until now when lighting my 3 Shabbat candles,my one match is from a book. I straighten the wicks and so far have been successful getting all 3 lit before getting burned. But this time the wicks took longer to light & my short little match had to be tossed. I felt terrible and my mind went completely blank! I couldn't remember what to do and with time ticking and sun setting I quickly took the chance and lit another match to finish off the other two candles.
Afterwards I sat down with my notes and read, happily discovering that my decision was the correct one. I had not said the blessing yet and it was still before sunset so I hadn't yet accepted Shabbat. Also reading, I found I could have celebrated Shabbat with only the one candle lit as well. After this experience I plan to start using long wooden kitchen matches!
This lesson got me to brush up on my notes which also state that the Shammash can rekindle a Chanukah candle that has gone out only once. Shabbat Shalom, Joan Reply

Reflecting back to my first Hanukkah in December 2019, overwhelmed yet completely delighted at the same time, I considered it to be a complete disaster! But this is how we learn and I was hopeful that through study and experience things would only improve.

When 2020 Hanukkah was approaching, I convinced myself everything would be done correctly this year. However though very successful, I began to realize that there will always be those little things that may need more understanding to get them right or as right as can be. The important part is to remain confident and always remember how much being a part of this celebration means to me.

My question for this year is:
I use one hour Chanukah candles in my Menorah extinguishing them at the half-hour mark. As placement is Right to Left, and lighting is Left to Right - is there an order to extinguishing them?

Worried about my apartment building rules on candle lighting, three years ago at my first Chanukah service, along with my Menorah I also purchased a battery-operated Menorah so that I would not be denied the lighting. Gladly such was not the case and I've decided to continue each year lighting both for double the beauty of the ceremony. Sameach Hanukkah! Joan Reply

This is my third Hanukkah and my Chanukah candles burn one hour. On Shabbat, I use half-used Chanukah candles in my Menorah so they will burn out naturally in thirty minutes. As with the Havdalah candle that requires a new wick every service, does this apply to my half-used Chanukah candles as well? Hanukkah Sameach! Joan Reply

I am celebrating Hanukkah in Nigeria, I feel so happy to be part of this Noble celebration with huge significance.
Though, I am lonely and poor, I feel this deep joy I just can't explain.

Celebrating Hanukah with my daughter for our first night we have some beeswax candles and decided to use our birthday candles for our Hanukah light tonight. Blessing to those all over the world may we recover from these sick times. May all people be blessed. May we all unveil and unmask our fears and open to the love that is ours to receive Reply

Couldn't find any hannukah candles, so I improvised with a charger plate and tea lights. Singing all of my memories from childhood tonight in Yiddish Reply
