Only a two-minute walk from the island’s Es Codol Foradat beach with its sift-through-your-toes sand and clear turquoise water, this spacious casa has six roomy bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms, which means there’s more than enough space for the whole tribe to come along. A restored fisherman’s cottage in Lanzarote
This rustic house lies on the quiet seafront along from the small fishing village of Playa Quemada. The quirky design and interiors give a nod to its fisherman’s cottage heritage, with paintings of sea creatures hanging on the walls and wooden furniture filling the rooms. The theme continues on the terrace with an anchor and rigging ropes. Look out to stunning views of the coast, or spend an afternoon getting creative in the separate artist’s studio. While the cottage is a peaceful space, the main hub of Lanzarote is an easy drive away for some evening buzz.

Majestic sea views at Villa Lucia, Lanzarote
Gaze over at the neighbouring islands of Fuerteventura, Lobos and the beaches of Papagayo from one of the three large terraces at Villa Lucia. It’s conveniently close to the Marina Rubicon, which is lined with places to eat and shop, and some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands. Explore the different water-sport options – from boat hire to diving classes – or walk along the wide coastal promenade for 20 minutes to reach the fishing village of Playa Blanca. The villa has been recently renovated, with nautical-themed interiors keeping in tune with the seascape. There are three double bedrooms, all with sea views from the big windows, a full kitchen and a pretty living space to relax in. Fire up the barbecue on the terrace or read your book in peace by the large swimming pool. A break from normality is guaranteed.
