seed ticks | Missouri Whitetails - Your Missouri Hunting Resource
Man o man, I got lit up by the seed ticks when I went out on the opener. The tick + chigger bite totals were near 70. It was a miserable couple of day.

I normally only have an issue with seed ticks in May/June.[/rquote]
Those are Yearling ticks that time of year. The true seed ticks are just a speck in comparison![/rquote]
That pic, was listed as a pic of seed ticks... I never really looked to close at them. I have never had an issue on my place with ticks, once September rolls around. Maybe one or two here or there, but nothing like May-July.
This weekend I tucked my pants inside my rubber boots and did not get any chiggers or ticks. A couple weeks ago I had my pants on the outside of my boots and sprayed my boots and pants and had 8 ticks and lots of chigger bites...

Seed ticks are definetly still out right now!! And they are the larval stage of a normal adult tick. I think they must breed a few times a year or something. 4 stages of ticks life(egg, larva(seed tick), nymph, and adult)

baby Jesus brought them to me, he just was a total fail on my buck.
I wiped hundreds off my legs opening day. Came home and got in the shower asap, and took off hundreds more with a scrubby. Then the wife took off a few dozen more that were well attached.
I was thinking I'd sat in a nest of them or something, so next time out left the blind alone and went to the stand. Same deal.....came home with hundreds.....again.
Third trip out Saturday eve, and I soaked my boots and pant legs with 40% deet. Hate using that stuff, but MUCH better than having ticks swarm your junk.
These ticks were the size of pepper flakes. So small that I can not see them (with allegedly perfect vision) from arms length. From six inches away you can see them, barely.
I'd rather have 50 seed ticks on my ankles as 1 dog tick on my neck:02:
