Clay, better known online as Dream, or DreamWasTaken, and formerly, DreamTraps and GameBreakersMC, is a member of the Dream Team, a group of YouTubers who make Minecraft content about plugins they've coded to change the game. He has the most subscribers out of the three members and has been active on his current channel on YouTube for the longest. He is known for popularizing Minecraft Manhunt and owns the private, whitelisted server Dream SMP.
Dream's first known YouTube upload was "sand trap or best trap ever!!!!!!," although the first video that he appears in is "Switcher Levitator Trap Tutorial" posted on August 26, 2013. Dream's YouTube channel was a slow-growing channel, stuck at around 1,000 subscribers from 2014 to 2019. His views rapidly increased in 2019 after he made a series trying to discover the world seed for PewDiePie's Minecraft world. After this, he continued creating content about custom plugins for the game that he had created, and making content with his friends. Through this, consistent uploading, and other tactics he researched before creating his recent content, he was able to master the algorithm and gain subscribers through his content.
After MCPvP died, Dream renamed his channel to GameBreakersMC where he would look at game exploits in servers like Mineplex. However, he didn't take it very seriously and renamed himself to Dream in May/June 2019, also deleting the videos.[Citation needed]
Username
Dream's former username was DreamTraps, as shown by the link to his YouTube. He was able to grab the name Dream on Minecraft in February 2019, and thus, it became his name and branding.
Meeting Sapnap
Dream met Sapnap on MCPvP, after Dream shared his Skype and asked if anyone wanted to be friends. Sapnap replied and said yes, and through this, the two became friends. When they met, Sapnap was twelve and Dream was thirteen.[3][4][5]
Meeting BadBoyHalo
Dream met BadBoyHalo on MCPvP.[5][6] After MCPvP shut down, Bad invited Dream to be staff on his new server, MunchyMC. Dream is now a co-owner of the server, and owns Prison.[7]
Prior to his public face reveal, very few people outside of Dream’s personal life knew how he looked like. In an interview with Anthony Padilla, Dream mentioned that only a few people online knew what his face looked like. He named Sapnap and ItsAlyssa, and also mentioned that George hasn't seen his face at the time.[9] As the Dream Team began planning IRL content, Dream planned to reveal his face to the public so that he could spend time with his friends and fellow creators in public. He originally planned to face reveal early if George was able to move to the US before Christmas 2021, but it did not happen due to George's Visa not getting approved at the time. Dream waited until George moved to America to face reveal. Following a three-day campaign of having his fellow content creators post their reactions to his face, he finally uploaded a video of his face reveal October 2, 2022.[10] After the reveal video, Dream posted more photos on Twitter and Instagram with George and Sapnap.[11][12]
Charity livestream
On October 18, 2022, Dream and Technoblade's father did a livestream in memory of Technoblade, in which they both talked about many of Techno's well-known stories. Near the end of the stream, Dream confirmed that he planned to livestream an important Minecraft event he was working on (which was done in memory/dedication to Technoblade) with all of his friends very soon.[13]
Controversies
1.16 Speedrun
In November 2020, Dream tweeted that his 1.16 speedrun, which he had submitted to speedrun.com two months prior, was still held under review, due to his unbelievable amount of ender pearl luck. Dream defended his run and accused the moderators of being biased against him.[14][15][16][17][18] On December 11, 2020, speedrun.com moderator Geosquare released a video in which he explained the statistics that the moderation team explored while reviewing the speedrun, and their rationale for ruling the speedrun as unfair.[19] The moderation team also simultaneously published their paper of the investigation detailing the statistical analysis that proved Dream to be too lucky.[20] In response, Dream attempted to refute the the report and video with multiple (now-private) videos and an analysis written by an astrophysicist he hired from online service Photoexcitation.[21] However, many other professional speedrunners, mathematicians, and statisticians also weighed in, providing their own analysis that also went against Dream's refutations and analysis.[22][23][24][25][26] Months after the controversy died down, Dream admitted to accidentally cheating with a mod he had unknowingly enabled.[27][28]
2020 Minecraft Mob Vote
Dream, upon the start of the 2020 Minecraft Mob Vote, urged his fans and followers to vote for the glow squid. After the results were shown and it was revealed that glow squid won, other voters criticized Dream for using his large platform to influence the vote. Following the initial announcement of the Minecraft 2021 Mob Vote, Dream poked fun at the incident before stating that he will not be asking his fans to vote for a mob this time around.[29][30][31]

Personal life
Dream has three siblings - an older sister, a younger sister (known publicly as Drista), and a younger brother.[32] Dream also has ADHD and didn't focus much in school - instead, he drew and wrote his own stories and games that he wanted to create in the future.[33] As of 2021, he lived with his cat, Patches, and Sapnap.[34] Then, in 2022, George moved to live with them. In 2023, Sapnap brought in 2 cats named Milo and Naomi.
Boundaries
On June 23, 2021, Dream shared his boundaries through his merchandise Discord. They are featured in the following image, and the image can be downloaded and shared.
He used to own the Minecraft speedrunning record in a 1.15.2 random seed. (22 minutes and 4 seconds, Random Seed Glitchless, also known as RSG). The run was shown in the video Minecraft Speedrun World Record 1.15.
He is famous for his "Minecraft Manhunt" series, in which he, or his friend, is being hunted down by him or his friends. An example of this is "Minecraft Speedrunner VS 4 Hunters", in which Dream is being hunted by BadBoyHalo, GeorgeNotFound, Antfrost, and Sapnap. His Manhunts are one of his most popular series.
He has a second YouTube channel known as DreamXD for extra scenes and other content.
Dream has been gaining subscribers and growing his channel very quickly, gaining nearly 16 million subscribers before the start of 2021.
Dream, at one point, considered becoming an author.[Citation needed]
He turned affiliate and gained his first subscribers on Twitch on May 5, 2020.[Citation needed]
Dream has participated in every MC Championship since MCC 6 except MCC 20. He won MCC 8 (with Technoblade, King Burren, and Michaelmcchill), MCC 11 (with Karl Jacobs, George, and Sapnap), MCC 15 (with Sapnap, Quackity, and Michaelmcchill), and MCC 16 (with BadBoyHalo, F1NN5ter, and Seapeekay).[44]
Dream holds the records for the most completions (three) and fastest completion (six minutes, 41 seconds) in the game Parkour Warrior. As a bit, the creator of the map blew up the map in MCC 11 because of his anger towards Dream completing the map three times.[45]
Dream, alongside George, Sapnap, and FalseSymmetry, is one of the only players to win two MCC's in a row.[44]
Dream has been featured in some of MrBeast's gaming videos. His first appearance was in the video, "Last to Survive Abandoned City wins $10,000 - Challenge," and has since then won other challenges. He won twice in "I Opened A Free Store In Minecraft!". He also won in "Among Us But Dream Goes 900 IQ!", "Among Us but LazarBeam Goes 4,000 IQ!", and "The Biggest Outplay Ever in 3D Among Us!" He was also featured in MrBeast's 2020 YouTube Rewind, teasing a face reveal but instead wore a mask of his character.
In TommyInnit's video "I Spoke To Dream's Mom," Dream's mother can be heard talking to Tommy.[46] In the video, Dream also states that he met his friends in the order of Sapnap, BadBoyHalo, then GeorgeNotFound in the video.[47]
Dream joined the Dream Team Wiki's Discord server on November 5, 2020.[48] He was the first creator to join with Ponk following a day later. He has yet to speak on the server.
Dream has been nominated for and won several YouTube Streamy Awards.
In the tenth Streamy Awards, Dream was nominated for the categories of "Breakout Creator" and "Gaming." He won the award under the "Gaming" category.[49]
In the eleventh Streamy Awards, Dream was nominated for the categories of "Creator of the Year" and "Gaming." For the second year in the row, he won "Gaming" category.[50]
In the twelfth Streamy Awards, Dream was nominated for the categories of "Creator of the Year" and "Gamer."[51]
In the thirteenth Streamy Awards, Dream was nominated for and won the "Gamer" category.[52]
He does not like coffee, and the smell of coffee makes him gag.[53]

Dream revealed in his Discord that he offered to send a picture of his face to George. However, George refused since it would ruin the surprise when meeting him in the US. There were multiple times Dream almost sent a photo, but George refused and became pissed.[62][63]
To keep George's physical meetup with the Dream Team from being too overwhelming, Dream offered to allow George to Facetime him and see his face for the first time immediately after George's visa was approved. Both reactions (the face reveal and physical meetup) would be recorded.[64] Dream revealed on September 25, 2022 that they already did the Facetime call and that George had recorded the reaction.[65]
Dream promised to allow Tommy to see his face before the world does.[66] He later fulfilled the promise during his series of face reveals to fellow content creators on October 1, 2022.[67]
For a while, Dream did not stream on the Dream SMP because he wanted the other members who contribute more to the server to have the attention.[100] Dream returned to streaming on the Dream SMP on January 26, 2022.[101]
After the learning that Technoblade passed away in June 2022, Dream changed his Minecraft skin to include the crown that Technoblade wore on his skin. On August 27, 2023, after releasing his real-life recreation of the duel against Techno, Dream reverted his Minecraft skin back, removing the crown Technoblade wore.[111]
He is commonly shipped with GeorgeNotFound. Their ship name is called "DreamNotFound," which is also commonly abbreviated to "DNF."
