The first five films in this American fiction action film series has been directed by Michael Bay who is perfectly known for directing big-budget concept films. Travis Knight is the director of the Bumblebee that is a spin-off film and was released in 2018. The first installment in this series, Transformers (2007), earned $709 million worldwide and it was nominated for Academy Awards. The average rating of this film was 5.8/10 on Rotten Tomatoes and it received mixed reviews and was praised for the exhilarating action. This film stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky. Sam is a teenager who is caught in a race between evil Decepticons and the heroic Autobots. They are fighting to get the control of Allspark that can grant magical powers to the one that can possess it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the second installment in this franchise that was released on June 24, 2009, in America. This film received mainly negative critics and many believed it was inferior to the first installment but the visual effects and action scenes were highly praised. Grossing $836.3 million worldwide this film became one of the highest grossing domestic films and also highest grossing of the years. The storyline on this movie is about Sam returning back to the normal life but he has strange visions of cryptic symbols and the evil Decepticons tracking him back to the war.

The third installment in this franchise was theatrically released on June 28, 2011. Transformers: Dark of the Moon stars Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Malkovich, and Frances McDormand. The script of this film is written by Ehren Kruger. In most of the reviews that this film received the action scenes and visuals were praised and the film was rated 4.9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes. Dark Of the Moon earned a total of $1.123 billion and it is the 20th highest grossing movie of all the time. In this movie, The Autobots find out about the Cybertronian spacecraft that is hidden on the moon and they are trying to reach to it.

Transformers: Age of Extinction is the fourth installment in the Transformers franchise. This American science fiction film was released in 2014. The film received mainly negative interviews and many believed the film is poorly directed, the screenplay is not that unique and also badly acted. Despite the negative reviews this film was a huge box office success and grossed over $1.104 billion worldwide. In this film, the story takes place five years after the events and humanity allies considering robots a threat and Autobots turning into mechanics for help.

The fifth installment of the live-action Transformers is Transformers: The Last Knight that like its predecessors is directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Glenn Morshower reprising their roles from the previous installments. This film was nominated for ten Awards and grossed $605 million worldwide and got the average rating of 3.24/10. In this installment, Autobots and Decepticons are hunting for a lost artifact and Optimus Prime meets his creator in space.
