A MAN from Weymouth has been discharged with just a fine after his learner plates fell off while riding a motorbike on Portland, a court heard.
Ewan John Stitfall, 20, of Chalbury Close, was riding a white Suzuki motorbike on Easton Lane without a valid licence on September 5 last year, Weymouth Magistrates Court heard.
In England and Wales, riders who have not yet passed their test must display learner (L) plates at both the front and back of their motorcycle. They both need to be upright and as close to a 90° angle as possible. They should be clearly visible to others from the front of the vehicle and behind it.
In court on July 4, Stitfall admitted driving the motorcycle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The court did not issue any further endorsement due to the shortness of distance that was travelling after Stitfall's L plate fell off.
The defendant's guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.
Stitfall has been fined £120, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and court costs of £100 - totalling £254.
