KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To develop, write and implement the school’s digital literacy strategy, digital literacy development plan
  • To manage and track the school’s hardware
  • To prepare, deploy and run staff training for currently used and newly introduced technology and digital experiences the two school sites
  • To ensure a clear vision for Digital Literacy, in partnership with the school’s subject leaders and heads of years.
  • To establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with all staff and SMT, facilitate technological and digital ventures they may wish to pursue and provide digital experience-based decisions, in an advisory role. 
  • To liaise with other APG Digital Leads on innovative curriculum technologies. 
  • To review and update all policies with a relationship with, or designed for, digital aspects of education, learning and safety in the school 
  • To liaise with pastoral leads on critical elements of e-safety, to ensure that all sites are consistently up to date with current trends and social shifts and that staff are digitally aware 
  • To ensure they are up to date with technological and digital developments that are pertinent to education and e-safety 
  • To liaise with the Learning Support department in order to provide digital solutions to barriers to learning, assisting in their deployment and usage 
  • To be a first point of reference for staff queries that do not fall under the banner of infrastructure; more broadly – to offer a solutions-orientated approach to ensuring the smooth running of the staff, boys and parents digital experiences on-site and off-site, with respect to the curriculum and learning generally 
  • To develop a clear, functional one to one device programme that embeds good, innovative teaching technique across the school
  • To observe the use of digital technology and devices in the school and to assess their usefulness and effectiveness
  • To be directly responsible for digitally onboarding new staff

 

Wetherby School is a thriving and highly successful non-selective, independent school in Notting Hill with 340 boys, aged 4 to 8. The school is heavily oversubscribed and extremely successful in securing pupils’ entry into the preparatory school of their choice. Wetherby School are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and inspirational Head of Digital Learning to join our team from April 2024 to cover maternity leave for 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, imaginative and driven teacher to lead the digital strategy of the school.

Experience of teaching computing is essential, as is a thorough up-to-date knowledge and experience of digital learning. What is also important is your ability to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning, and to have the skills and maturity required to take on the duties and responsibilities. Wetherby School has four forms in each year group and being a team player is vital.   

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

 

A confident ability to lead Computing throughout the school from Reception to Year 3 with an ability to teach model lessons using digital hardware to upskill staff and enrich the curriculum.

Experienced in supporting the electronic administrative organisation of such things as clubs, Parents’ Evenings, Teams, Seesaw, assessment tools (CATS, InCas, GL Assessment).

To be up to date with technological and digital developments that are pertinent to education and e-safety.

An ability to establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with senior leaders, subject leaders, and heads of year, in order to facilitate technological and digital ventures they may wish to pursue.

About Wetherby School

Wetherby School is based in Kensington and Chelsea, London. The independent pre-preparatory school admits boys aged 4-8. There are currently around 360 boys enrolled in the school, which occupies a listed townhouse.

In 2002, the school became part of the Alpha Plus Group. It was founded in 1951 and moved to its current location in 1971.
