academic curriculum

As a school, we are passionate about delivering a creative curriculum that balances academic rigour with the development of the whole child. We understand that everyone learns in different ways and we are committed to embracing innovative teaching and curating a vocabulary-rich curriculum that will secure these outcomes. The school provides a wealth of enrichment opportunities that not only provide our children with a range of cross-curricular skills, but ensures that every child is able to succeed and reach their potential.

Students receive subject-specialist teaching from Year 4 onwards and are taught by experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic staff who take them forward and prepare them for the 13+ Common Entrance Examinations in Year 8. Small class sizes and support staff ensure that every boy’s potential is realised, and those with particular areas of academic strength, are appropriately stretched.

School Council plays a large role in our school community and the boys are encouraged to debate ideas and make suggestions about areas of school life that they believe can be improved. It forms part of our mission to help inspire our boys to be a ‘force for good’ as future citizens of the world.

Departments regularly enhance their lesson provision with visitors to the school as well as trips to various places of interest in and around London. All students attend an annual residential excursion, making life-long memories of their time here at Wetherby.
