Our cabin on the bay was lovely, clean, peaceful, and offered a very comfortable place to stay for a couple days. Bedrooms are small with few places to put luggage but we were one couple in a two bedroom cabin so were free to use the second room. The small kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was large and warm. The electric fireplace added extra ambiance to the cabin.

Amazing location with scenic views right on the beach. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the whole trip! Showers were shut off for the winter, but there was a little out house available for bathroom use. Campsites were well kept and a little muddy (but thats expected especially in the winter). Overall, great deal for a standard campsite!

We’ve been camping in the same site for the 4th of July for 7 years. We have two other families that come the same week and it’s so much fun. Yes, all the campsites are exposed. There are few amenities for campers (besides a clean bathroom and shower house, and convenient ice, wood, and coffee deliveries by golf cart). But you can’t beat the views, the friendly staff, the convenient location, groceries, and being able to send your kid to the dock for ice cream when you need a break.

They rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, a small motorboat. Games, puzzle, movies at the front desk. Nightly big fire and free popcorn at sunset. Kid activity everyday (usually free, fee for ice cream sundaes and tie dye shirt).

If you want nature camping, try Moran or the newish Mount Baker Farm and Campground.

We just got a cabin for our week, so our camping days are over here. Just for reference, we’ve been on the waitlist for a Beach Haven cabin for 8 years. It only took a week here.

I’ve heard the internet in the cabins is good. We have T-Mobile and get at least 2 bars everywhere on Orcas (we heard an executive has a place on the island), 3-4 bars at West Beach.

The cabin had a blue cup of liquid in the bedroom window sill when we arrived, the bathroom has no heat but did have a large live spider, the stoves big burner cAnt support a pan, there were not any coffee filters provided, the porch light didn’t work and our dog found a pencil on the floor that could have seriously injured him if we hadn’t noticed he had it. their web site pictures show a room with two nightstands but neither room had nightstands or even room for them. The cAbins are far,far from soundproof as specified on their website. The windows aren’t even insulated! We complained about four dogs next door soon after we arrived to the front desk. No one contacted us or addressed the issue. The dogs were not leashed and barked every time anyone walked by. One of the dogs came into our cabin. 2 of the four dogs were supposedly therapy dogs. Finally had to call the manager Jamey the second day And he called me back later. Someone talked to the owners who leashed two of the dogs and gave us the evil eye when they could. You can’t get your money back from this business and they don’t actively monitor compliance with their leash and noise rules. Don’t waste your money - stay anywhere else!

Thank you for your review both here and on Yelp, and we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. However, we are quite confused as to the circumstances of your complaint that you keep updating with new information. A member of your party was encouraging your dog and a neighboring cabin's dog to play together, and we are told your dog came into the neighboring cabin off-leash. At any rate, it sounds like our furry guests got a little excited. To clear up several points: 1. The noise issues you raised with the front desk were addressed immediately and directly with the neighboring cabin and confirmed to you on your second day. The issue was resolved as you stated, 2. The rate you paid was $286 per night with the $19/nt pet fee plus tax. We aren't sure where you are getting the "$750" for your stay, 3. Your bathroom had heat. There is a thermostat on the baseboard heater for you to adjust the level of heat. There is also baseboard heat throughout the cabin plus the wood stove if you really want to get things cooking. 4. We wish you had brought the other items to our attention so we could have been afforded an opportunity to immediately address your concerns. We checked with you mid stay and you did not mention any of the issues you mention here in your online reviews, 5. If there were any housekeeping issues in your unit, we deeply apologize. We get very high marks for cleanliness and especially during Covid-19 where we take extra time to thoroughly clean and disinfect all cabins after each stay (including professionally fogging each unit after each cabin clean), 6. We cannot find your reference on our website that our cabins are completely "sound proof." Our cabins are standalone, insulated cabins with no shared walls. Each cabin is slightly different, and that is why we include multiple pictures within each cabin category to give you a general feel of the cabin style. We did our absolute best to address the issues this guest mentioned including offering reasonable concessions for credit in good faith. While we will always do our best and in a timely manner (we are staffed 8AM to 10PM in the summer and available 24/7 for urgent needs), some of our units are pet friendly and as such, occasionally, some dogs will bark. However, we do not allow incessant barking per our pet agreement signed at check-in, and we do our best to monitor for this. We ask all pet owners to be responsible, and if there is a problem we will address it, which we did in this case. The issue was brought to our attention and we resolved it by talking with the owners of the dogs (who did a good job thereafter). We are sorry we were not able to match our offerings with this guest's expectations although we did our very best to try throughout her stay.

The location of this small resort is wonderful. It used to be our favorite place on Orcas. However, it has become over priced for the small and modest accommodations offered. Cabins are tidy but not fully equipped for much cooking or comfort. The cost per night for a one bedroom cabin was more than staying at Rosario or other higher quality hotels with comfortable beds. Cigarette butts around the cabin are indicative of high occupancy and quick turnover without attention given the to areas surrounding the cabin. While the people working there were nice, they seemed rather dismissive of the needs of their guests. Their terms for rental are not made clear, so ask questions before booking and be sure to know all added costs. Definitely make sure you get your confirmations if you book. Cute place, but can’t see the value.

My family tent camped here and found the cost didn't include anything except a small camping spot and a playground. The area was not private and nothing here is included with your overpriced charge. It was a mandatory 2 night stay or we would have only stayed one. We found the state park to be much more accommodating and half the price.

Hello and thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you did not find our facility to be worth the price. We want to point out that a lot is included with your stay as mentioned in correspondence. All stays include 10% off whale watching departing from the resort, free resort-wide wifi, beach bonfires on weekends, guest-only hot tub pass pricing, complimentary games including bocce ball, ping pong, volley ball, horse shoes, etc. Stays include full access to our marina and pier with five "relaxation stations" including a picnic table at the end of the floating docks to watch the sunset. We also have an on-site store (open 8AM to 10PM in the busy season) with great ice cream, gourmet espresso, and local draft beer/wine, and grocery items. Also included in your stay is access to all items at our Activity Center where guests have access to guest-only rentals pricing including SUPs, kayaks, canoes, motor boat, fishing equipment, and more. We offer a bright and cheerful Shower House cleaned 3x daily, dishwashing facility, and new playground. In the peak season, stays include nightly beach bonfires, free popcorn at sunset, daily Kids' Activities (most complimentary), SUP/kayak racing, and much more. We are a family-friendly campground since 1938.

Excellent Covid precautions in place, felt that this resort took safety seriously. We stayed in a budget pet friendly cabin with our cat. Had everything we need, little kitchenette, bed, spacious bathroom and TV. We even had a BBQ and fire pit with complimentary wood. We did not use the available jacuzzi, although it was tempting. We could see the water from our cabin (#16) and it took 30 seconds to get to the shore- very convenient. We got to watch a few lovely sunsets. Good location in Eastsound, friendly and accommodating staff, would stay here again.

The cabin was fully outfitted with kitchen and utensils. Very clean and comfortable for our family of four. The beach is about ten steps away from the porch with chairs / picnic table and firepit on the beach. Our trip was to see the meteor showers since there is an unobstructed view to the NW and very little light pollution in the area. It was an amazing stay. Next time it will be for a longer duration. So much to see on this island and never enough time. Thank you for the hospitality and ability to share such a beautiful location with everyone. I hope someday to have a similar place / setting to share with the world.

I have always loved West Beach, and my love for this place prompted my entire family to come here for an entire week during busy season for the last 4 years. This year it has been one nightmare after another. First off, we made an in person reservation for our cabin at the end of our trip last year and didn’t get saved in their system so we lost our coveted cabin for this year. We managed to secure a different cabin, at an exhorbitantly high cost (literally more than what we spend on an ocean front luxury condo in Hawaii for 10 days) and then they failed to send the booking confirmation. We ended up arriving a week early because that was what we originally had planned, only to discover after 6 hours of travel that the cabin we booked was for a different week, all because they never sent a confirmation and failed to book as requested for the second time. We even called about our reservation before we arrived to make sure all was in order, and the front desk person never even checked the reservation as we found out later. When we arrived on site at 10pm and complained about never being sent a confirmation, they sent the confirmation, and not before. Management was smug, uncompassionate and rude. My 85 year old Mother was struggling with a door for several minutes while management looked on and NEVER offered to help with the locked door. We finally had to ask her to step over to assist after she gawked at us. This after being turned away with no accommodations for the night. Then we arrived back the following week for our reservation … more problems. The last 4 years I have always stayed in a tent outside of our rented cabin. I’m fact we have had 2 tents to accommodate myself and my friend. We had our tents set up every week for the full time and never once was it an issue in plain view of management and maintenance. This year I show up, and surprise tents aren’t allowed due to fire code. So for the second time in two weeks I show up at West Beach without a place to sleep. They are charging us for 3 people that can’t even fit in a one bedroom cabin and now my friend and I have no place to stay because of their “surprise” policy change. We are SO done with West Beach. I’m sorry that my favorite place was soured by horrible management and price gouging.

We are really sad to see this review, and we apologize if there was any confusion. However, we must clarify a few points. 1. We have no record of you making a reservation last year. Had you made a reservation, you would have received multiple emails confirming the reservation along with us taking a deposit for the reservation. None of this was performed, so we are unclear how you state you made an "in-person" reservation without any confirmation or payment taken. We are really sorry your cabin didn't get booked for 2023, but we cannot automatically make a reservation for you assuming you want the booking. 2. You claim we failed to send a confirmation for the second reservation you made. As mentioned when we talked, I can confirm a confirmation was sent at 9:51AM on 6/7/23, and I have provided you with the date stamp receipt of this sent confirmation. We do apologize if you did not receive the confirmation, but a confirmation was sent. 3. We are really sorry about you arriving a week early and that we had no other lodging available. We do recommend guests confirm their reservations prior to arrival. We did our absolute best to try to find alternate lodging, with multiple staff involved at 10PM trying to find a solution. Should a confirmation not be received, we are always available to be contacted to look into the situation immediately. 4. We do not allow camping next to our cabins. This is a long-standing policy to keep order at our resort, and this is also a fire code issue. We apologize if we did not notice you camping next to your cabin in previous years. However, when you asked, our staff correctly advised you of the policy of no camping next to the cabins. Given this, in good faith, we advised that we can let you camp this year given your concerns but that going forward, camping is not allowed next to the cabins. 5. You booked a two-person cabin that also has a futon and a day bed. This particular unit is rated for two but can sleep up to five with the alternate sleeping accommodations. You can find this information on our website, and we also made this mention at the time of booking along with sending all charges on confirmations. 6. Our pricing is competitive with other lodging in the islands. Staying over the peak summer weeks will be higher than staying other times of the year. We are really sorry if there was any confusion regarding reservations, and we feel badly you are not having the experience in line with the rest of your stays with us in previous years. I have met with you directly and offered concessions, in good faith. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your week with us and the islands. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions.

Location is great, right on the beach. However, there are many little things and a few bigger things wrong with West Beach that I cannot recommend staying here. Little things: there is no door mat to wipe your feet before tracking in dirt; shower is tiny, you can't turn around in it; lights in the living room are so dim you can't read; stove top is so small you can't use more than 1 pan at a time; one bundle of wood given to us for 4 nights didn't burn; cabins are right on top of eachother. There's plenty more, but you get the idea. Bigger issues: Wi-Fi is useless; construction was being done on a nearby cabin every day making lots of noise; the mattress was old and lumpy; someone drove over a water valve on the property, we had no water for hours (the resort should take care that a valve can't be destroyed by someone driving a car). All of this would have been tolerable if I had not spent over $800 for 4 non-weekend nights in the off-season. Your money would go a lot further elsewhere.

Hi Madeline - Thank you for your review. We appreciate your comments and want you to know that we take them to heart and will look into each item you mentioned. Looking over your reservation, we see that you stayed with us for four nights and booked your reservation through Expedia.com. Remember you can always book with us direct for a lesser rate as Expedia rates are often a little more. We are sorry for the inconvenience of the main water line break on your last night. Unfortunately another guest pulled in past their designated parking location and parked on top of a shut-off valve box that broke the main water line. We apologize for this. We worked throughout the evening and were able to get the water back on for your after only a little more than an hour. To your other points, there is a reading light in the living area (hanging light in the corner of the living area). We also have had incredible rains lately. We apologize if the grounds are a little soggy at the moment. We test our wifi weekly and have had no recent issues in the beachfront units. We are the only cabin-resort facility that offers wifi in all our cabins. Although it may not be as fast as city internet, it is fast enough for most uses including streaming video. We are a remote destination and do not have access to the absolute fastest connections speeds as we are limited by our provider. Our staff uses the wifi daily to run our business, so we know it was working during your stay. I wonder if there was an issue with your device and our network? We did test the connection at your cabin yesterday and it was working correctly on our devices (including streaming). We would have been more than happy to look into this for you if you had brought this matter to our attention during your stay. The unit you stayed in was at the other end of the property (at least 150 yards from the cabin with it's interior being worked on), so we are very surprised to hear that there were any noise issues at your unit. Our mattresses were completely replaced a few years ago (practically brand new), but we will take a look at the mattresses your your unit. We are also confused about some other items you point out including no front door mat (each cabin has a front door mat, but we will see if the mat missing?). Also, the unit includes an oven and 4-burner cooktop so you should be able to accommodate most any of our supplied cookware on the cooktop at the same time. We include one bundle of complimentary firewood and sell additional bundles at our store. Our wood comes seasoned and wrapped from our supplier and we have not had other complaints about not being able to start a fire in the supplied wood stove, but we will look into this to see if we can replicate the issue you were having. Thank you again for bringing these issues to our attention. We wish we could have been afforded the opportunity to correct any of these issues during your stay had you brought them to our attention. All the items you mentioned could have been corrected to your satisfaction. We checked with you mid-stay to see how your stay was going or if there were any issues, but none were reported. We also want to mention that we offer a wide range of lodging options, from small cabins to 3BR homes. If a larger unit were more to your liking, you might consider upgrading to any of our other lodging options that offer the additional space and amenities you may be seeking. We hope to see you in the future!

Yes, I have two dogs so everywhere I stay has to be pet friendly.
Answer from Judy J

We were in a RV campsite that was across the road from the tent sites, so my knowledge is limited. From what I saw, I would say that they are not very private. I believe there were trees near some of them, but I think the trees were along the back of the camp sites. There were fire areas where we camped, but I don't know about in the tent sites - I would check with the campground for that info.
