Overall, this hotel turned out to be a delightful surprise. The proximity to State street and marina was perfect. It's close enough to walk and just far enough to avoid all the noise and crowds. Our room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The AC was great cuz it kept the room really cold during a very hot weekend. Given the amazing location, quality, and the price for a two night stay over a holiday weekend (Saturday and Sunday night) costing $678 total, West Coast Inn is a fantastic value. Our only qualms were that the pillows were uncomfortably soft and the TV needs to be mounted on the wall. Otherwise, this hotel is a gem. The staff were all very pleasant and and made us feel welcome so we really enjoyed our stay. Also, I wish they would state this somewhere on their site but when we checked in, they have free tickets you can take for kayaking/paddle boarding and a bike rental. I wish I would have known in advance and saved myself $80 for the reservation I had purchased in advance. This was a great bonus! Also, they have free parking which isn't the case for most hotels down the street that charge nearly $40 per day. The breakfast they offered which you have to go pick up from the front desk was an option of small poppyseed or blueberry muffin, banana, and either a small bottle of apple or orange juice. It’s not the best but at least it’s something. They have vending machines for snack and beverages near then office so you e grabbed some stuff from there as well. I definitely recommend West Coast Inn and will stay here again next time we visit SB.

We recently stayed at this hotel during Labor Day Weekend to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. When we arrived, there was problem with our room. The hotel staff went above and beyond to resolve it in a way that far exceeded our expectations. Special thanks to Dyon and the General Manager Teresa Stiff for demonstrating outstanding customer service. This hotel is full of terrific perks such as a free gas card if you book the Road Trip Promotion, free bike and kayak rentals, is centrally located near State Street, is directly across from the beach and pier, has clean spacious rooms with super comfy beds and amazing shower products, and a quaint garden area for outdoor seating and dining. There is also adequate free parking and a swimming pool. The hotel is practicing all recommended Covid procedures so my family felt perfectly safe at all times in and out of the room. We will definitely return to this property again in the future because it was such a positive experience from beginning to end. Just wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights!

It was our first "fully Covid vaccinated" getaway (4 hours from our hometown Santa Cruz) for 2 nights, mid-May, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights so we were lucky to get a "reasonable" rate of $184 (before tax) per night for a two queen bedded room with a balcony overlooking the ocean.
We have often stayed in this area at the nearby Marina Beach Motel and like this area a lot. If you can get a good rate for this room or similar it is wonderful! We did a wonderful day of wine tasting in the Santa Ynez valley at Sunstone and Roblar wineries. Such a great getaway.

Spend more money, and try to get the nicest/biggest/highest floor room they have.

Also, it is a “California courtyard” building concept from the 70s, so there are common balconies, only two floors, and thin walls. You’ll hear every footstep coming and going, every door opening and closing.

The grounds and pool are nice, and decently kept. (Hot tub closed due to public health order during COVID.) It’s usually quiet, but if you have a noisy/chatty neighbor downstairs or next door, you’re going to be very aware of it.

The rooms don’t look much like the pictures on the booking websites. It’s not that they’re bad-looking rooms (they are actually very tasteful), it’s just that everyone has their own style, so if you’re choosing based on the pics, just be aware of the possible discrepancy. The main room size is also smaller than what was pictured (although oddly, the separate bath and vanity are quite spacious). Very strange design.

Also, there was no boxspring under my mattress. It was simply resting on a wooden mounted platform with wooden slats and no “give”, resulting in a hard and uncomfortable bed. I had to use two of the pillows as body cushions every night during my stay. I discovered gray streaks on my sheets when I went to bed the first night. The next time they changed my linens, I discovered black ink stains on my sheets when I went to bed. I feel like whoever does the laundry should be checking for things like that, and have the authority to dispose of them.

Had I known all of this ahead of time, I would not have booked here.

However, the west beach location is fantastic (with a very highly rated restaurant right next door that had outdoor seating), walking distance to State Street and Stearns Wharf, etc. The grounds and pool area were well-kept, and lots of lounge seating is provided on the property. Plus they have free beach bike rentals and free spa robes in the rooms.

Rooms were newly refreshed in a contemporary beach-y manor; Pillows were super comfortable; staff were unfailingly polite and helpful; prices were fair (also, no "resort fee" or parking fee!). It's an older facility but nicely remodeled rooms, many facing the harbor. Would definitely stay again.

After months of staying isolated at home, my husband and I craved a change of scene. We booked a weekend at West Beach Inn, a hotel we have stayed in many times. The staff were welcoming and safety protocols were in place. While there were limitations to using the pool area and only a basic staff served breakfast, we greatly enjoyed our stay, The outside areas were cleaned frequently and all looked safe.

I have no idea where these great reviews are coming from. We decided to stay here based on the reviews, but never again. Built in the 1950s, our room was dark, cramped, noisy and uncomfortable. This was not a $400 per night experience by any stretch. Our room was right on the street, way too noisy all night long. The beds were not firm, they were hard as concrete. Our limbs fell asleep but we didn't. The worst part is the bathroom. It is literally 5 feet by 6 feet in size. You can actually be doing your business on the toilet and brush your teeth at the same time. But that's not as bad as the shower. I've never seen a shower stall so small. You literally can not turn around in the shower. If you drop the soap and bend over, your butt will push open the shower door! Way too uncomfortable and cramped, we'll never stay here again.

My husband Stayed here 3 nights. Beds were comfy, room was clean, and location was perfect! Will stay again. Grounds were manicured nicely. In the mornings they offered a few breakfast bites and the pool is open until 11pm w towels available. They do not provide room service due to Covid but if you need new towels and trash emptied they do provide that.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 days. The room was very spacious, clean and well furnished. As other reviews noted, the bathroom is small but adequate, although the walk in shower was a good size. We booked a king bedroom on the second floor with the harbor view. The bed was very firm and the mattress could probably use a little updating. Also the pillows were well used and provided very little support but we requested additional pillows which the staff kindly delivered to our room.
The room view of the harbor and the private balcony were very nice with comfortable lounge chairs to enjoy the views but the road noise was substantial during the morning and early evening hours so we did not spend a lot of time on the balcony. After 9 or 10 pm, the traffic decreases and the road noise is not an issue while sleeping. If we return to this hotel we probably would book a regular room as I do not believe the view and private balcony really justify the extra cost.
There is a small elevator that simplifies getting your luggage to your room without dragging it up the stairs. The property grounds are clean and well maintained with beautiful landscaping.
The continental breakfast is quite good with offerings of good coffee, juices, fresh fruits, yogurt, cereal, milk and some baked goods. Due to COVID restrictions, there is no dining area bur the hotel thoughtfully provides trays that you can take your breakfast back to your room or out to the pool/patio area. Overall this is a nice property, well maintained and in a good location.

Due to the pandemic, my adult daughter and I waited until vaccinations to re-connect. I flew down from the SF Bay Area, and she drove up from LA. The West Beach Inn provided such a lovely getaway.

We stayed in room #220 with 2Q beds and a harbor view. Yes, we had street noise from Cabrillo Ave while we were on the lanai, but it was so pleasant to sit out there! We watched the sail boats heading out in the late afternoon, then we ate our dinner al fresco as night came, and in the morning we enjoyed our complimentary breakfasts and hot beverages as the sun broke through the clouds.

Our room was very clean and comfortable, with great beds. Lots of lighting and plenty of outlets for devices. The mini-fridge was very quiet, which isn't always the case. The bathroom is small, but the shower is great with plenty of hot water and a good flow. There is no bathroom fan so crack the sliding window ahead of time, unless you want a sauna.

We enjoyed the hot tub and pool in the evening as well as relaxing in the garden setting. It's a very peaceful place, and the staff is very kind and welcoming.

I had questions and problems booking over the hotel website or through their reservations number. Call the hotel at their direct number instead. They were very helpful and I was to book the accommodation that suited all my needs and talking to Patricia. She’s awesome and everyone at the hotel was helpful and friendly.

Hello! Yes, wine and cheese every night. We were there in the summer...so I’m not sure about winter months. We absolutely loved our stay there! We were there just to get out of town for a couple of days, so we didn’t do much...went to the pool and walked over to the pier. There’s plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Have a great trip...hope you love the hotel and Santa Barbara as much as I do!
