Beautiful park overlooking the ocean with large grassy area. There are tables to sit and have lunch and stairs down to the beach. You can go down one set of stairs and walk on the beach for a while and then walk up another set of stairs up to the other end of the park.

We walk Shoreline park at least once a week. Beautiful scenic walking path, bike or run. Never see the homeless hang out there. Along the path you view the ocean activities such as surfing and sailing. There are picnic tables, barbecue pits, restrooms and a children’s playground. Also a great place to fly kites! Years back they used to have kite festivals at Shoreline park. Not sure about now.

Find some parking, and just start walking, or pick up a bike from the rental stands. The grass areas are well maintained and the beach has easy access. We traveled from one end to the other, stopping for food and drinks. Great use of your day.

This park is a great place for a picnic, jogging as well as beach access stairs. It has beautiful views down the coast as well as the beach below the cliffs. It has picnic tables as well. Plenty of onsite free parking exists as well.

Our family hired bikes for 2 hours from Wheel Fun and had a lovely time riding the bike trail. One end you can see the Santa Barbara Zoo and we spotted one of the giraffes which was fun. Awesome views all along and well maintained. A very easy level ride for ages 7-70+! We stopped several times and had generous vanilla icecream at the Shoreline Cafe en route.

Beautiful and perfect spot for walking with your best friend (canine or human) or exercising. One of the many attractions of Santa Barbara. Just take in the beautiful views and salty air.

Great area to exercise you and your dog. Close to the marina and the beach is awesome. It was pretty chilly when we were there so we didn't go out to the water. One of the most beautiful beaches I've seen though.

Great place for a relaxing bike ride, but the overwhelming presence of homeless people prevented us from lingering and enjoying. It didn't feel entirely clean or safe.

Everyone visiting Santa Barbara should stop by this park for at least a few minutes to take in the views.

Lots of dog walkers, runners, walkers, and tents selling stuff. You can view the people or look at the grey sea but dont walk on the beach without shoes its not safe and signs say so. Too many people and not necessarily a good place to swim. But, a good place to get-away and relax.

I am looking for a place to hold a memorial service. Would there be a spot where 30 people could gather?

Hello,
Yes, there are a many places for just such an activity. Shoreline is a little louder and more of a picnic feel than other beach spots. So Shoreline is good if you want a place to BBQ and have a "party" kind of memorial service. If you want it more quiet and simply beach focused, the beaches a East Beach are wider longer, and easier to find privacy. If you want real seclusion (where I often see small private beach weddings the South end of Summerland Beach is really secluded and private, but harder to carry stuff down the hill. Lots of options.

Is there a specific time of day that is best to see whales from shore? (particularly mid-May)

I wish I knew the answer to that question. I have been there a few times and will go again as my family lives in that area I have always felt that it was just plain luck to see them but if I find out I will post it.
