Our Verdict

Our Verdict

Anyone seeking a 0% intro APR or a balance transfer card will likely appreciate that the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card offers a generous 0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on purchases and qualifying balance transfers. A 18.24%, 24.74%, or 29.99% variable APR applies thereafter. Balance transfers made within 120 days qualify for the intro APR and a balance transfer fee of 5%, min $5 applies. However, the card doesn’t offer rewards or many other notable benefits beyond cellphone protection, so give it a pass if you don’t need a long promotional APR period.

Wells Fargo Reflect® Card Introduction

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card is light on features but handy for anyone looking to pay down debt or stretch payments on a large purchase. The main selling point of this card is the long introductory rate on both new purchases and eligible balance transfers.

While the introductory rates may entice some applicants, it’s not ideal to use long term. Like most no-annual-fee cards, this one doesn’t come with a large suite of benefits. Notably, purchases don’t earn rewards, which makes the card less attractive than direct competitors that also offer introductory 0% rates.

However, a nice additional benefit that’s standard on many Wells Fargo cards is the included cellphone insurance. When you pay your wireless bill with the Wells Fargo Reflect Card, you’ll have access to $600 in coverage per claim for stolen and damaged phones (subject to a $25 deductible). Two claims may be made per year.

But unless you’ve exhausted all other options, you can find more well-rounded card options than this one.

Customers who meet the transfer eligibility requirements can use this offer to strategically score an interest-free loan on new purchases or existing debt.

Balance transfers won’t accrue interest during the period, but transfer fees still apply. Whether you’re making new purchases or transferring debt from an existing card, make sure you can pay off your balance during the promotional period. You’ll also need to make sure you’re making the minimum payment (or more) each month, even during the promotional period, to avoid other fees and maintain your credit score.

How the Wells Fargo Reflect Stacks Up

Wells Fargo Reflect® Card vs. Citi Double Cash® Card

The Citi Double Cash® Card offers a 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months. After that, the standard variable APR will be 19.24% - 29.24%, based on creditworthiness. An intro balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3%, whichever is greater, applies to transfers completed within the first 4 months of account opening. After that, the fee will be 5% of each transfer (minimum $5). However, it also comes with a strong rewards offering of 2% cash back on all purchases—1% when purchases are made and another 1% when they’re paid off, giving it an advantage over the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card. Double Cash rewards can be redeemed for statement credits, deposited into your checking account or redeemed for travel.

The main perk the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card offers compared to the Double Cash is that the 0% APR also extends to new purchases and not just balance transfers.

Wells Fargo Reflect® Card vs. Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card may be an appealing alternative to the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card. It offers a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months, 19.99% - 29.99% variable APR after that; 3% balance transfer fee for the first 15 months, 4% at a promotional APR that Capital One may offer you (rates & fees).

Although you’re trading some time from the introductory APR, you’re gaining the ability to earn a flat 1.5% cash back on every purchase and 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. On top of that, the card also offers a welcome bonus: $200 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.

The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card comes with other perks that make holding onto it long-term a good idea. There are no foreign transaction fees, a $0 annual fee and no minimums to cash out your rewards.

Wells Fargo Reflect® Card vs. Chase Freedom Flex℠*

If you’re looking for an all-purpose card that earns elevated rewards across a broad swath of categories, the Chase Freedom Flex℠* could be the needle in the haystack you’ve been searching for. For an annual fee of $0, the card earns 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in categories that rotate quarterly (requires activation), 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3% cash back on dining and drugstores and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

Rewards come as Chase Ultimate Rewards®, a highly flexible currency that can be redeemed for cash back, travel, gift cards, merchandise or combined with rewards earned from a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® to unlock transfers to one of Chase’s travel transfer partners.

Is the Wells Fargo Reflect Card for You?

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card looks like a decent card for new purchases or eligible balance transfers, but in most scenarios, competing cards offer better options. The lack of a rewards program makes the card mediocre.
