Bear Grylls revealed that Prince George already has an adventurer’s spirit to rival his own.

The TV personality made an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday during which he recalled an encounter he had with the young royal on the Isle of Wight in August 2019 during Prince William’s King’s Cup Regatta and how he may have accidentally goaded George into making a very daring decision. Apparently, George’s grandmother Carole Middleton invited Grylls to meet the prince, who is a huge fan of the outdoorsman’s Netflix show, when the opportunity for a little escapade presented itself. “So we were chatting, and he was down here, and just as we were chatting a stream of ants went across his feet, and him and me looked at them, he looked at me with those amazed wide eyes, and I said, ‘Come on, we’ve got to eat one,’” Grylls explained. “And he said ‘Oh really?’ and we ate.”

He added, “It was a privilege to give the future king his first ant, and his eyes lit up as they do with anyone when they’re out in the wild and they face a few fears and they overcome them, so good for him. What a little hero.” Grylls went on to win the regatta that day and even mentioned George’s daredevil feat in his speech at the awards ceremony. “And also Prince George, your first ant you ate today...And that is a great moment. Well done, you,” Grylls said at the event to laughter from the royal’s parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William.
