Where is Arabba?
The small village of Arabba sits an elevation of 1,600 m in the Italian municipality Vivinallongo del Col di Lana/Veneto. The neighbouring communities are Corvara and Canazei. Encircled by the peaks of the Dolomite mountains, this fascinating mountain village is located at the foot of Passo Pordoi and Passo Campolongo in the Fodom Valley, which belonged to Tirol until 1923. In 2009 the Dolomites became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A great travel destination in summer and winter
Arabba is a popular winter sports centre due to reliable snow conditions and lies in the heart of Dolomiti Superski ski resort, which is also the starting point for Sella Ronda formed by Fodom valley, Fassa valley, Gader valley and Val Gardena. Sella Ronda is the most famous ski tour of the Alps including four passes of the Dolomites: Campolongo, Gardena, Sella and Pordoi. Porta Vescovo (2,487 m) is very popular as the mountain top can be reached via cable car from Arabba and offers a stunning view of the eastern peaks of the Dolomites, the Sella group, Marmolada as well as Piccolo and Grande Vernel. Marmolada is the highest mountain of the Dolomites (Punta Penia at 3,343 m). Punta Rocca (3,265 m) vantage point is accessible via Marmolada cable car in three sections: first Banc mid-station, then Serauta, where you also find the highest museum in Europe, the last cable car takes you to Punta Rocca and then the elevator to the viewing platform offering a breathtaking view.
In the winter state-of -the-art ski lifts and cable cars take sports enthusiasts to a great number of ski pistes of various levels of difficulty. Novice skiers and children will enjoy their first turns on the slopes together with an experienced ski instructor of one of the ski schools at Monte Burz.
But there are a lot of other outdoor activities to discover such as: snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating, backcountry skiing and a lot more.

In the summer this region is definitely worth visiting. Many trails, trekking and mountain biking routes through the Sella and Marmolada area start at Arabba. In good weather explore the region along one of the many hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging.
What else is the to explore in the heart of the Dolomites
Buchenstein Castle (Castello di Andraz) should be included whenever visiting this region. In bad weather visit the Ladin Museum of History, Tradition and Costumes in Pieve di Livinallongo. Other sights are: "Old Mill", statue of Katharina Lanz, war memorial of Salesei or the remains of the "La Corte" fortress.
