It is a less-than-ideal end to the week with all the clouds, showers, and cool temperatures. The center of a massive storm system passed overhead last night, producing rain and storms during the early morning hours. This system is now lingering to the east, funneling moisture and cool air of the Atlantic Ocean and giving us this damp Friday. Scattered showers, drizzle, and mist will linger into the evening, with temperatures not escaping the 50s and 60s. If you have plans this Friday night, grab a jacket and keep an umbrella handy. Any lingering showers should let up by midnight as the coastal low finally pulls away and we get some clearing.

While we see improvements over the weekend, it won’t be quiet on Saturday and Mother’s Day. We start with sunshine and dry time Saturday morning, pushing us back into the 60s. A disturbance will rotate down from the north and produce areas of rain from west to east from Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Yet again, if you have plans for your Saturday night, you’ll need the umbrella. Isolated showers will linger into Sunday morning as this system exits, but we should get some clearing and dry time by the afternoon. If you have plans to celebrate the mothers in your life, the afternoon and evening look like the best bets for nice weather.

One of the only totally dry days in the extended forecasts will come on Monday as high pressure sets up off the Atlantic Coast. Temperatures will rise as southerly winds kick in, as we head back into the 70s and stay there through most of next week. Our next round of soggy/stormy weather will quickly arrive late Tuesday as a storm system pulls toward us from the center of the country. Timing differences remain in the models, with rain and storms arriving as early as lunchtime on Tuesday or as late as Tuesday night. Regardless, unsettled conditions return mid-next week, with rain lingering into Wednesday before it briefly dries out again next Thursday.

Have a great rest of your Friday and a fantastic Mother’s Day weekend!
