Winter Storm Kassandra spread snow from the Southwest into the Southern Plains, Midwest and Northeast Jan. 23-26, 2023.
The storm first brought more than a foot of snow to the higher elevations of northern and central Arizona. Snow was also spotted in the deserts northeast of Phoenix.
In the Southern Plains, snow totals ranged from up to 10 inches in the Texas Panhandle to 1 to 3 inches around the Oklahoma City metro area. Lubbock, Texas, picked up 7.2 inches from the storm on Jan. 24.
Southern Missouri and northern Arkansas were hit hard by heavy, wet snow that contributed to tree damage and power outages Jan. 24-25. Up to 16 inches of snow fell in the Ozarks of northern Arkansas near Mount Magazine State Park.
The storm dusted parts of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan with a few inches of snow Jan. 25. Parts of the Detroit metro pick up over a half foot of snow.
Kassandra closed out its journey across the country by bringing snowfall to portions of the interior Northeast and New England Jan. 25-26.
