Glasgow, KY  –  The city of Glasgow will celebrates it’s 225th birthday next Friday, May the 10th.  The anniversary will not go unnoticed.  The City of Glasgow is planning a large two-day celebration to mark the date with live music from a popular band locals will find familiar, and learn some not-so-familiar history about the city of Glasgow.

City Administrator April Russell tells WCLU News that the band Seven Nations will highlight the event.  Mayor Henry Royse noted the significance of the city’s Scottish heritage.

The concert will take place on the downtown public square.  Russell and Royse explain some of the more fun details the city has planned, including food trucks, inflatables, and even cake!  All the fun begins at 5pm on Friday May the 10th.  The concert will begin at 7pm.

The city will also host a historical presentation from local historian, Sam Terry.  That will take place on Thursday May the 9th at 6pm in the Glasgow City Council chambers.  It’s there where you will be able to view documents from the origins from the city.  These documents are available and have been sleeved to preserve the history.  The work was done over the course of several years by City Clerk, Mona Simmons.  Royse credited her for the opportunity for Glasgow citizens to see items like the first ever City Council Agenda for the city, and other interesting items will be available for viewing.

All-in-all, Mayor Royse says, in 225 years, we have a lot to celebrate.
