To help to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens and visitors of Washtenaw County, the Washtenaw County Building Department provides inspections of commercial and residential structures to ensure compliance with the State Building Code. Some of the inspections listed may not be required - when in doubt, please call 734-222-3900 and check with the appropriate inspector before proceeding. Inspectors are in the office from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, to answer questions. For more information, view the Scheduling Inspections page.
Note: It is unlawful to occupy a building before the final inspection is made and a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
