The Washington Wizards have made some changes to their front office this spring. They brought in Michael Hartman to run their strategy and analytics group, according to league sources, and there are more hires expected this offseason as the organization continues to shift under new team president Michael Winger and general manager Will Dawkins. Hartman had previously been the senior director of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans.

When comparing his current results and his initial comfort level, Washington explained how he wasn’t nearly as prepared as he is now. He’s fully aware of when Doncic or Irving wants to make the passes they make and how the ball is going to arrive to him in the flow of the offense. “My first couple of games, obviously I didn’t [know what to expect], I wasn’t ready for none of it,” Washington told MavericksGameday. “But now I feel like I’ve got my rhythm and I kind of know when they’re, when they want to pass it, when they’re going to shoot. So just knowing stuff like that, for sure.”

Interim coach Brian Keefe, known for his work developing players previously as an assistant coach, is considered the early favorite to retain the job by rival executives who spoke with HoopsHype, echoing a report from The Athletic.
