This is a world class museum experience. Allow at least one day to view all of the exhibits, fascinating artifacts and interactive video displays. After visiting this museum, you’ll never think of the Bible the same way again.

Yes yes we know about the magnificent collection: A Van Gogh here, Renoir, El Greco, a Diebenkorn, one half of the Jacob Lawrence Migration series (the other half lives at MOMA) and much much more. Because in the old days people who made millions upon millions bought art…and eventually made it available to the rest of us as a museum. And it’s lucky for us they did because it’s a terrific memorable collection.

But what you shouldn’t miss is the cafe. I usually stay away from these museum cafes but the food was excellent and the coffee robust. Fairly reasonable considering it’s a museum (pricey but not absurd). The cup of squash soup was bursting with flavour, had a bit of kick, and came with a generous slab of rustic bread. Held us over until dinner.

Altogether worth visiting on every trip to DC.
    The cafe too!

We just went on the outside, but how beautiful the architecture of this building is! And beautiful gardens, great for photo ops! We went during cherry blossom and magnolia bloom and it was gorgeous!

Lovely visit to the Smithsonian's National Postal Museum.

Free to enter and NO advanced reservations required. Although you will be screened via a TSA-style metal detector upon entry.

Conveniently located right across the street from Union Station. Also a nice 15-minute walk to the Capitol Building and a 20-25 minute walk to the National Mall area.

Lovely architecture in the museum as with other Smithsonian Museums.

Lots of exhibits covering stamps, the postal process, postal security procedures, postal transportation and the general evolution and advances of the postal service throughout history.

This is an absolute must for stamp-collectors. One interesting area is where you can look up stamps from any country in the world...that is very cool considering the number of international tourists visitig the area.

There is a small gift shop but it has a separate stamp shop which is cool.

    Overall a great experience...highly recommended.

Watched the Supreme Court in session and I was awestruck! Would recommend if you have enough time (court will go for a few hours). Must arrive well before the stated start time as well

The Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) are both housed in the old Patent Office building. In SAAM, there were many interesting exhibits, both permanent and temporary. The exhibits give a broad picture of American art from the colonial period until the 21st century.

I end up here every trip to DC, mainly because the conference I usually go to is nearby and Union Station is a great place to grab a quick lunch, hit the drugstore for room supplies, and just hang out in the marble halls watching thousands of people rush through. There is also a pretty good tourist gift shop on the far end of the shopping area on the top level that I often get gifts from before heading home. It is worth at least 15 minutes to wander through and think of all the history that has come through here.

This is always been one of my favorite museums, and after they renovated it about 12 to 15 years ago, they have really modernized the interior, and have created some amazing exhibits. I love the fact that it's very small and easy to see and probably an hour or less. The Renwick gallery actually started out either as the first Museum devoted to American art or the first art museum in Washington. Either way, the museum itself has a very strong Legacy. Because it's part of the Smithsonian it's free, and it's an excellent place for both kids and adults. Last time I was there I took my daughter who was two at the time and she loved it! They have an exceptional gift shop where you can find some specially crafted art and unique items which are also functional. So I would advise anybody who wants to see an amazing Museum and happens to be near the White House, this is right across the street and of little to no commitment.

My wife and I are big baseball fans and though we're Yankees fans, we love visiting all parks and are working on seeing all of them. We've been to the Nationals Park twice now and it's a fun park overall! The seats in the upper deck are comfy and the views of the game are great. Food and drinks are pretty standard, but we were able to find some good beer and popcorn. The highlight of the game is definitely the Presidents Race and it's always so silly and fun, which is great to see. The park is also located to lots of good restaurants and bars, so you can easily make a full day of the game. It's a fun park and one we'd visit again!

An outstanding exhibition of Shang dynasty excavations (Anyang!), artwork (ritual vessels, jade) and history. Also superb work collected by Freer himself from Tang, Zhou dynasties; early (100 BV Yemen) sculptures, Japanese silk screens, Chinese and Indian Buddhist, Sassanian art explained at the level of the lay appreciator. This museum, its expertise and its curators are a jewel on the Mall.

The park is so huge and we only had a couple of hours. Will definitely have to go back during the different growing seasons!

My wife wouldn't choose to see too many historical tourist places but this 1 hr free tour was the perfect balance for her. I could stay longer to hear more of American history.

It was fascinating to see the statues and architecture of this wonderful building steep in history.

We visited the Rotunda, the first chamber for debate and the Crypt.

Book your place in advance to guarantee your peace but definitely worth a visit.

This was my second visit. Our first visit was just post-COVID and guided tours were not offered at that time (although we able to walk through house and ask questions), but we were so impressed we decided to tour again this month--this time with Jacob, the historic interpreter on site. He was simply amazing! Jacob spoke for 90 minutes with such fluency about the history of Lincoln and the property--it was like the best long TED talk ever! We've lived in NoVa our entire lives and this is our favorite historic spot to visit and recommend to others. Don't miss it!
P.S. If you know someone who has lost a child of any age, don't miss the special exhibit about parental grief, drawn from the experiences of Mary Todd and Abe Lincoln.

This is a beautiful memorial. A must see for everyone in DC. Don't miss it as it's a little hidden but very close to the Vietnam Memorial and several other great sites.
