Sonali Bendre believes in rewearing and repeating her timeless wardrobe

The idea of one-time wear is no longer what the cool kids in fashion subscribe to. With the pressing need to shift focus on sustainability, rewear, recycle and reuse have become staples terms in fashion language. While brands are focusing on recycling and upcycling, fashion’s leading ladies are taking matters into their own hands. From Gwyneth Paltrow giving us a Deja Vu moment in her iconic Tom Ford for Gucci suit from 1996 VMAs that she wore again at the Gucci Love Parade in 2021 to Paris Hilton rebooting her 21st birthday outfit at the Art Basel event in 2018, fashion it girls are no longer hesitant to reach for their favourite looks and give them another go. 

Sonali Bendre, who is someone we unanimously look up to for fashion inspiration when it comes to her classic style speckled with occasional bouts of subtle experimentation, recently posted wearing a look she first wore over 16 years ago. The actor has been vocal about several causes that empower women and create climate awareness,  so it comes as no surprise she chose to embrace another cause, namely, sustainability by recycling her favourite pieces. Wearing her go to pieces on repeat, the actor has given us many looks that warrant our attention. Read on as we list a few of Bendre’s looks that hit our radar and how she made each of them work through the years as her style evolved. 

Classic white kurta

Reaching into her enviable wardrobe Bendre gave new life to a vintage Kurta set she wore by designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla recently at an event. She noted to have worn this outfit sixteen years ago. While pairing it with a pair of dainty diamond earrings, this time around the actor paired her look with statement hoops and pair of white pumps.

A vintage jacket

Sonali Bendre showcased her “old is gold” moment with a vintage embellished long jacket designed by Rohit Bal. She sported the look with a casual T-shirt and straight leg beige trousers incorporated with layered neckpieces- channeling her inner bohemian girl. She shared a picture of her wearing the same jacket almost two decades ago, posing alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Bal, the designer himself.

An off-shoulder statement blouse

In a white off-shoulder top with blue applique detailing Bendre recently posted an image on her Instagram wearing it with Bulgari mangalsutra. With her hair in natural waves she finished out her look with dainty hoops. She wore the same top years ago where she paired it with a pair of denims, kept her neckline bare and chose silver hoops for jewellery. 

The logo tee

While taking her furry friend on a ride around town during lockdown, Bendre posted an image wearing a slogan tee stating “Look on the bright side.” She was spotted wearing the same T-shirt paired with a pair of wide leg denims in 2019.

A plaid shirt

Bendre was seen in her trusty plaid shirt not twice but thrice. The actor is not shy to repeat her favourite pieces and this is proof enough. In 2017 the actor posted a picture wearing a blue plaid shirt which she paired with her trusty denims. Finishing her look with pair of diamond studs, Bendre kept her trademark sense of casually cool alive. She once again was seen wearing the same shirt basking in sunshine in 2020 and then again this year in January. 

The denim jacket 

Vouching for denim jacket and its place in every wardrobe as a must have staple, Bendre posted a picture on Instagram promoting a book from her book club wearing a denim jacket that she was spotted wearing in 2017. While she wore it with a black t-shirt recently, she early chose to pair the jacker with a green bodycon midi and white sneakers.
