- ccriderYVRVancouver, Canada3,610 contributionsWe never miss a visit to Beacon Hill park when we are in Victoria. It’s a great place to walk about and also encounter peacocks, ducks, owls and lots of squirrels.
Spring time is beautiful with all of the flowers and trees blossoming.
You can connect to the beach and walk and explore for some time if you want.Written April 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tdsuperstarToronto, Canada18,806 contributionsHad a great tour with Ryan, the architecture and history of building was brought to life. The forty or so minute tour really makes you appreciate the effort it took to get the building built, but at the same time recognizes that it was built at a different time, using different labour laws and taking advantage of a native family. The free tour is worth every moment. The gift shop is also well priced and has some good food offerings. Learn some history, learn about democracy, enjoy the grounds and restaurant!Written March 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jbfal1Melbourne, Australia372 contributionsInteresting 'old' building, not sure it really qualifies as a 'castle' though. Definitely want to be pretty mobile to tackle the stairs to see it all.Written May 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tdsuperstarToronto, Canada18,806 contributionsFisherman’s Wharf is just another great part of Victoria to check out. Lots of restaurants to choose from. I’d love to see the area on a weekend when there would be many more people and businesses open. It was a quiet Wednesday when I was at FW, we enjoyed the views and uniqueness of the area. I know we’ll be back!!Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julie19672014St Ives, UK77 contributionsThis attraction was well worth the money. So much to see and wonderful displays. They had one of London and so much detail went into these displays. - Travel25346533585168 contributionsTruly Magnificent Old World Dining. We enjoy visiting the "Empress" whenever we have been in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
It is on Vancouver Island, strangely Vancouver is NOT on Vancouver Island..
The Hotel is 1800's Class back when people travelled in High Style by Raiway.
The Food was excellent and the servers were professional.
So tired of Canadian servers saying "No Worries" like the just stepped off a Crocodile Dundee Movie.Written March 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - juniper yToronto, Canada28 contributionsVery beautiful layout of the land. An enjoyable setting with a feast for the eyes. Although we didn’t sit down for tea, it would be wonderful . The friendly volunteers told us the historic background of the place , that adds a lot to the experience. Truly amazing to see such well cultivated garden , tend by volunteers with fondness of the plants and place.Written May 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RoBe48 contributionsIn a city known for its gardens, the Government House Gardens remain basically unknown. Maintained by volunteers, these gardens are lovely, diverse, and inspiring. A guided tour is worth the expense, and I can recommend Arthur and Leslie as guides with great knowledge and a passion for the gardens.Written July 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheDocandTheWifeUK50 contributionsJust brilliant. You needn't be a kid or have kids with you.. We are in our 60s and loved it. Thought we'd pop in for 1/2 hour whilst the cruise ship was docked, and stopped for 2 hours. Wonderfully knowledgeable staff - thanks Kylie, what an infectious enthusiasm you have!Written April 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - operalover939Toronto, Canada3,017 contributionsThe performance of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar is the reason for the excellent rating. Fine performances throughout of a notable modern work. The Royal Theatre itself rates a very good rating. It's a classic movie palace of a century ago and never really meant for opera. The pit is too small and shallow, for example. Still, it serves quite nicely.Written February 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
