The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Knightsbridge
When millions of tourists want to shop 'til they drop, they do it along Brompton Road and its boutique-lined tributaries, including the world-renowned Harrods. And when millionaires want to flaunt what they've already got, many of them find Knightsbridge and Belgravia the perfect place to do so, often behind stately mansion walls or down quiet private mews. Delve beyond the ultra-luxe exterior and you'll find some of this city's cosiest pubs, quiet gardens, and all sorts of indie retailers and enterprises worth a short exercise in spontaneous window shopping. For those looking to take a break from shopping, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and some of the city's most popular museums are nearby.

We weren’t interested in the 2 on our visit, but rest assured you could spend hours or days here regardless. There are many huge rooms of exhibits! The place is clean and quiet too.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 May 2023
- Stanley SWinter Garden, Florida548 contributionsA great underrated museumStill a hidden gem and great museum. It is so underrated. I particularly enjoy that there are so may different arts and histories represented here. The variety of pieces and exhibits are truly staggering. One area of note is the beautiful cafe Make sure you go into the ornate rooms and admire the artistry of the room itself and ignore the outer seating area or go outside to sit by the wading (not for wading) pool and enjoy a warm day when the sun finally comes out. I highly recommend V&A as it is one my five most favorite museums in the world. Take your time, marvel at the glass, wonder at the statuary, check out the paintings and meander;its free!Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2023
- Laurie D36 contributionsBest museum I have visited in England! What a fabulous musem! A must see while visting London. The cafe food was fabulous and inexpensive. If I worked in the area I would eat there everyday. We allowed three hours for our visit and didn't even cover half of one floor! We will definitely be going back again and again. Lots of local dining options in the area. I highly recommend Good Earth Chinese for dinner and L'ETO Tea Room for dessert!Visited May 2023Written 24 May 2023
- Andre R9 contributionsDon't Miss ItWonderful collections. So much to see. Lovely activities for kids in the Victorian section. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when most of the South Kensington museums were mobbed. V&A felt roomy, with plenty of seating available in the galleries in case you need a rest.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2023
- Denise C4 contributionsDecorative Arts at their bestThe Victoria and Albert Museum is a treasure, with so many examples of creative decorative arts, it truly is not a place you can see everything. So picking and visiting only the highlights in each section is a must! Lunch in their outdoor restaurant was inexpensive, tasty and a good change of pace.Visited May 2023Written 3 June 2023
- Alastair J2 contributions#KWaveLondonThe main purpose was to visit the Hallyu (Korean Wave) Exhgibition and attend the introductory symposium talk. As an established fan of the K Drama genre, I found the exhibition to be a delightful and very carefully curated collection of material that vividly presents historical and contemporary cultural material from and of this very remarkable country. For really up to date examples of Hallyu in action, then YouTube and Netflix are readily available. However, the exhibition takes just a few of these examples and places them in a considerably larger context than entertainment and fashion by itself. I loved the experience and would recommend it highly to anyone, of any age, who is a fan of Korean pop, drama, fashion, or history. Only a few weeks left.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 June 2023
- Parker CNovato, California166 contributionsA must visit when in LondonI have been on previous trips but never wrote a review. In addition to an eclectic and amazing collection that spans cultures and artistic genres, on this trip we saw a special exhibition of Donatello. I have also been to Florence so familiar with his work, but there were pieces that I'd never seen. It was an excellent exhibition that included work of his peers as well as a stylistic resurgence in the 19th century. It was worth the visit.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 June 2023
- pfefmeisterSan Francisco, California3,097 contributionsThe Best MuseumWe were staying close by, so had the opportunity to visit three times, each visit for an hour or so. We thought this to be the most interesting tourist attraction in London, with intriguing displays of - just about everything! If you have to pick one museum, this should be your first choice, and plan on 2-3 hours if only visiting once.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 June 2023
- Julie WChevy Chase, Maryland6 contributionsA less crowded gem.We explored the extensive jewelry exhibit, which was a revelation of craftsmanship and artistry from as long ago as 3000 bc. The goldwork was remarkable and we were astonished by the fine platinum pieces. Separately, there is a fine ironwork collection. There is also a central outdoor area where people refreshed themselves.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 June 2023

Especially We appreciated that a volunteer let us know that a one hour tour was starting shortly with another volunteer. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate (I think his name is Graham) about the exhibits. We learned so much. The jewelry exhibits deserve at least an hour. Thank you for a wonderful experienceVisited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 June 2023

Amazing and overwhelming, allow a whole day for a visit as simply too much to see!
Helpful staff although when we were there a bit tricky to navigate as some corridors were closed, but ask a member of staff and they will help.
Really very good and Wii go back again to see more!

Wonderful Museum! Casts of famous and well known art pieces without the big crowds.
Went as it opened, they request a donation so it is not really free. All works of art were beautiful, and some of the English pieces quite surprising. Amazing casket with sculpture of Newfoundland whose master was a lord. The casts (reproductions) were also made a long time ago, such as the statue of David. All types of original work from the U.K. Furniture, modern ceramics, musical instruments, metal work, clothing, clocks, and much more. Each floor is accessible by lift, and bathrooms on every floor.

The Victoria and Albert Museum or V&A is the single most unique display in the world. The ethos is to show people things that they would have travel to see. It dates back to the 1851 exhibition when countries showed off their wonders to Brits but could not return them. This ethos is still valid today. I rate this museum as the best I have seen. Take a couple of days you will love it.

The jewelry gallery is stunning.

There is so much to see and admire in this vast museum, we went two days in a row. As first timers, we started with a different free, 50-minute, tour on both occasions. The guides were very knowledgeable and highlighted a few feature items that we cloud have easily missed on our own. This gave us the opportunity to retrace our steps and see more of the magnificent items on display. The café provided welcome rest and refreshment each time, though, as none-Londoners, some of the prices seemed a little high. As entry to them museum is free, we were happy to make voluntary cash donations. Still plenty to see and learn about during future visits.

Last year my wife and I spent 2 days at the British museum. It was horribly crowded, hot and lacked adequate toilet availability. The Victoria and Albert Museum was a stark difference and much better experience.
Crowds were much smaller especially in the morning. The exhibits were incredible and you had more time to appreciate them.
The cast room was amazing. The Raphael cartoons, the glass chandelier that was in the main foyer and even the art work in the cafe are not to be missed.

The V&A museum completely blew me away. The main floor is absolutely stunning with huge exhibits. You could spend hours in the museum and it is super cool. Definitely a must-visit if you are going to London. If you only have a limited time stick to the main floor because the farther away you get from the main floor the less interesting the museum becomes. The V&A is free, meaning that even if you don't think you'll be interested, you should still visit, if only for the ground floor.

How long would you say it takes to go around the Diva exhibition please.
Ranu M
London, UK185 contributions
I spent 2 hours going round Diva on 2 levels, I was given headphones at the entrance, I find them hard to handle as I also wear glasses to read all print, so gave them back, and then enjoyed admiring all the exhibits. took me back to my childhood when I saw Greta Garbo, Marilyn. My current favourites are Tina Turner and Rihanna, both are well covered. On day I visited a visitor had a fall coming down steps, so please be vigilant. Enjoy

Traveling to London June 2023. Are there Skip the Line tickets for the V & A & if so, who do we book from?
Raphael L

We didn't have a line when we visited, given museums are free in London. You had to pay for an exhibition only, but there wasn't any line for us.
Hi, can you take food and drink into the V & A? Not to eat while there, but just carrying.
