The announcement of Vicky Kaushal winning the Best Actor (Critics) award for his role in "Sam Bahadur" at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 is indeed remarkable. Despite his absence at the event, he graciously expressed his gratitude through a video message, which would have been well-received by his fans and peers in the industry.
“Thank you so much to the jury of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for honouring me with the Best Actor Critics for my work in Sam Bahadur.” the actor wrote.
Due to prior commitments outside of Mumbai, Vicky Kaushal apologised for not being able to attend the event. However, upon winning the award, he thanked the director, Meghna Gulzar, producer Ronnie Screwala, and the entire team of "Sam Bahadur," including the technicians, writers, and co-actors.
“I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the family of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw for their assistance, love, and support,” he further added. Finally, Vicky Kaushal extended his gratitude to the viewers who supported and watched "Sam Bahadur" in theaters. Additionally, he praised the dedication of the Indian Army, acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions.
Vicky reposted the video from the event on his Instagram stories and thanked the organizers. He wrote, “To the Indian Army.”
'Sam Bahadur' depicted the narrative of India's inaugural Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, whose military tenure extended across four decades and traversed over five conflicts. He notably held the distinction of being the first Indian Army officer to attain the prestigious rank of Field Marshal.
Sam Manekshaw led the Indian Army to a historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, which resulted in the formation of Bangladesh. Throughout his distinguished military career, he played pivotal roles in various capacities. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also featured Sanya Malhotra portraying Sam Manekshaw's wife Siloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi.
In addition to Vicky Kaushal's win, Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor accolade for his remarkable performance in 'Jawan.' His co-star Nayanthara received the Best Actress trophy for her role in the same film. Anirudh Ravichander was honoured with the Best Music Award for 'Jawan,' while Sandeep Reddy Vanga received the Best Director Award for 'Animal'.
