Guglielmo Vicario reveals funny new nickname for Timo Werner at Spurs

Timo Werner has settled in well at Tottenham Hotspur pretty quickly, both on and off the pitch. Now, it seems his teammate, Guglielmo Vicario, has a fun nickname for the German winger.

Spurs pulled off a shock move in the January transfer window when they announced Werner had signed on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig.

It is believed the Lilywhites can make that switch permanent by activating a £15m purchase option clause as part of the agreement (BILD).

And, many reports suggest they will do just that, especially if Spurs can qualify for the Champions League this season (Football Insider).

Werner has played an important role in Ange Postecoglou’s squad already, and now has two goals and three assists from 11 games (Transfermarkt).

He was involved yet again at the weekend, providing a dangerous cross into the Nottingham Forest box that ended up in the back of the net after Forest defender Murillo failed to deal with the ball.

Timo Werner’s Italian nickname revealed

After the game, Werner took to Instagram to celebrate a “great performance” from the team, giving a special mention to teammates Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro for their goals.

In the comments section, Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was among those replying to the post. The Italian wrote: “Yes gnocchi come on.”

Most of us would know gnocchi as an Italian pasta-style dish, but the term can also mean “goof” or “idiot” in Italy. It can also be translated as “handsome,” but we do not know which interpretation Vicario intended here.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s really impressive how quickly Werner has made himself at home at Spurs, and he’s clearly a popular figure in the dressing room. I’m sold on him, anyway, and I’d definitely be happy for us to keep hold of him permanently.
