Another great meal at Verona's Italian Restorante in Alexandria, La, but this time for our 39th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the Eggplant Rollatini for an appetizer and entrees were Chicken Marsala along with the Chicken Aristocrat...topped it all off with the most delicious Cannoli I've...ever had. Rob made it even more special by treating us as old friends as soon as we entered through the door. He was very helpful with meal selection and very attentive to our needs, which made the afternoon very nice. Thank you Rob.More

Went here with my son for a nice dinner. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food came out extremely fast and the wine selection the waiter made for me was perfect. It was a great way to end a great reunion weekend with my...son after being overseas for three years.More

My husband raved about the veal scallopini principessa. The veal was very tender, the cherry tomatoes blended well with the wine sauce and two tasty, good sized shrimp. The asparagus was a bit tough (sometimes it’s just difficult to find it out of season). I...had the crab and cheese ravioli special, very tasty with peas and sun dried tomatoes. Service was pleasant. We enjoyed our meal very much.More

Arrived Friday, May 5, 7 pm, and promptly seated. Ordered wine and dinner by 7:15, and wine came fairly promptly. By 8:30, no food. If I eat that late, I don’t sleep and, after that long wait, was no longer hungry. Told them we would...pay for the wine, but wanted to leave. Chef / owner came out and berated us, repeatedly. Finally, he said he’d give us the food for free, but if we left, he’d charge us for it. And he did charge us for it. He wanted to charge us for services not rendered, whereas we wanted to pay for services rendered. It would have been an interesting argument. Fortunately, the hostess, whom I think is his wife, said she’d only charge us for the wine. However, she did have the nerve to ask for a tip. Most reviews say the food is great. Maybe so, but when you go, ask them, “How long before I can expect to be served?” They only had the chef/owner, plus 1 helper, in the kitchen. I think he cooks each dish, and each one at a time. He works really hard, and I can understand his frustration. However, he was rude to us, he threatened us with some form of detention. That would have been entertaining. My advice – go somewhere else.More

Had lunch today at Verona, my wife had a mixed salad and saltimbocca (she said the salad was good, but the pasta dish was bland). I had chicken parmigiana, the sauce was too thick (lumps), just okay. We didn’t receive bread and had to ask,...but as it turned out the bread rolls were store bought and stale! I think an Italian restaurant makes or breaks itself with the bread served.More

Do not enter this establishment with any expectations of anything even approaching Olive Garden quality. I ordered the Veal Scallopini Principessa. Ordinarily, this dish is excellent and delicious. Here it was neither. The sauce was watery. The veal was dry. The asparagus was obviously out...of a jar or a can. The spaghetti it was bedded on was obviously just some dried pasta they boiled up, and they overcooked it at that. Icky is the only word to describe this dish. My wife ordered the lasagna. She said she liked it, but I had a taste and almost threw up a little in my mouth at the bite. Lasagna is not supposed to be sweet. This was. The filling was mushy and without body. The cheese was not thick. This did not deserve the title lasagna. Service was also a little curt and mediocre. I have yet to find good Italian food in Alexandra.More

Great ambience! And theres that. Pasta was best part of dish, everything was bland and lacked flavor. Veal had a strange flavor and was therefore avoided for rest of plate. Sides were limited to appetizers or salad. Bread was hearty but opportunity was missed with...no oil/peppers and only a pat of butter.More

We have been dining here for about 8 years and in ALL of that time have never had any bad meal. The local owners (Tony and Sussana) are so personable and caring. Like any establishment they have had wait staff turnover ... BUT ... even...the new folks are trained and professional. GO to place!More

Excellent food, and good service. This is a family favorite and tradition for years. Comfortable, reasonable prices, and good food. Options for vegetarians. I have some very picky, specific eaters in the family and they love it here, too.

This place was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. The service was absolutely amazing. My waitress was polite, professional and attentive. I wanted something outside the chain restaurants because I travel all the time and thought I would...give this place a try and I am so glad I did! If you are ever in Alexandria, you must go here and try their savory food and enjoy their amazing staff!More

This was the Worst experience ever. This is no joke no exaggerating, just facts. The lasagna was the worst food to ever order. No cheese hard not cooked pasta. Then when you tell the owner he accosted my husband Put his hands on him pushed...him then slammed our car door on my husband's leg. Told me to FU*K off . I can't believe people love this man and this restaurant. Worst food everMore

This is located in the old Gilded Cage lounge, which is a good base upon which to build. But, the facility is outdated, needs desperately to be updated. The decor is 1930s, which is older than the building. Music was too loud for lunchtime. The...menu was a good Italian selection, food was okay, but not something to crave. Just the regular old Italian fare. Not a bad place, just nothing special.More

I found this hidden gem while working in Alexandria, LA. My wife and I returned on a separate trip on 2/11/2011 and had a wonderful experience. The owner is Italian and so it the excutive chef. Both speak fluent Italian. My wife ordered the Chicken...Saltimbocca and I ordered the Sausage and Chicken with pink sauce. Both were well prepared and delicious. From the outside this place look like a dive due to the age of the building, but once inside it is like being at someone house for a Sunday meal. Very small and quaint and does pack up quick for lunch. Growing up Italian in New Orleans, this is some of the best traditional Italian we have eaten since we left New Orleans. The waitstaff is very attentive. The wine selection is very good. The music played in the background is all Italian artist like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Prima. They are open Tuesday-Thursday 11:00AM-9:00PM Friday and Saturday 11:00AM-10:00PM and Sundays 11:00AM-8:00PM and Closed Mondays.More

Extremely over-priced, bland food.. over 8 people, variety of dishes ordered and none were of "good" quality... anyone can boil pasta and pour a jar of marinara over.... pretty much all this is.

My wife and I discovered this gem over the Valentine's weekend. Now, central Louisiana is not exactly overrun with Italian folks, so we pretty have given up on finding the real deal. Cajun/Creole? All you want, and plenty good. Italian? Forget about it. I'm happy...to find out I'm wrong. This place is grand. The owner is indeed Italian, and seems to run a pretty tight ship. The place was very busy - we'd made reservations, but I guess they don't really bother asking about that. You just wait. Wasn't long, maybe 15 minutes. We were seated at a nice table, the waitress (busy as she was) took good care of us. The wine portions were generous, and the wine list was good. The menu was a lot of fun - many classic dishes to chose form, and some creative ventures as well. Virtually nothing on the menu cost more than 14 bucks. Very nice deal. The house tomato vinaigrette dressing is amazing, by the way. The staff are good, the food, is very good, the owner makes an effort to visit around the tables and make sure all is well, and the atmosphere is quite nice - a little dark, Italian music in background, some candle light, the whole deal. This place deserves recognition. Give Verona's a try - you won't be disappointed!More
