What travelers are saying
- richardford2017Exeter, UK213 contributionsButchart Gardens are approximately 45 minutes drive from downtown Victoria. We took the local bus (Route 75) and it goes into the gardens themselves. The plus is the cost, anyone can buy a day ticket that allows travel on the whole of the Victoria Network for just $5.00 Canadian Dollars.
Once at the gardens which opened at 10.00am the choice of how to explore is up to the individual. We decided to go in a clockwise route, stopping to admire the numerous plants all displayed perfectly in either a quarry or sometimes in raised beds. We spent about 5 hours wondering around. It did start to rain, but thankfully umbrella’s are provided free and then returned at the various umbrella stations.
Highly recommended and one useful tip is the price booked online in advance is the same as the price paid on the day, so if the weather isn’t playing nice you can choose as we did the day we wished to go.
Catering was excellent and we thought reasonably priced. All staff were very friendly and enthusiastic. Lovely day out and would definitely recommend.Written May 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ccriderYVRVancouver, Canada3,610 contributionsWe never miss a visit to Beacon Hill park when we are in Victoria. It’s a great place to walk about and also encounter peacocks, ducks, owls and lots of squirrels.
Spring time is beautiful with all of the flowers and trees blossoming.
You can connect to the beach and walk and explore for some time if you want.Written April 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NeilMcCubbinLac Brome, qc6 contributionsOur tour not listed. We did the deepest one with rappelles and a load of messy wiggling
Good fun but energetic and not for the fat boys
Our guide, Chloe, was very competent and good fun.

The forty or so minute tour really makes you appreciate the effort it took to get the building built, but at the same time recognizes that it was built at a different time, using different labour laws and taking advantage of a native family. The free tour is worth every moment. The gift shop is also well priced and has some good food offerings. Learn some history, learn about democracy, enjoy the grounds and restaurant!Written March 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a self guided tour a d the garden in front is beautiful. Nice place to visit and spend 2 hours or so. The castle is about 15 minutes drive from the main harbor.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kenna h2 contributionsLong Beach is famous for its long stretches of sandy beaches, dramatic shoreline, and powerful surf. It's a popular spot for surfing, beachcombing, and taking in beautiful sunsets. Visitors can stroll along the sandy shores, watch the crashing waves, and enjoy the coastal scenery.Written July 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John MToronto, Canada71 contributionsBeautiful beach. Great to walk when the tides out. Eagle souring adds a great dimension to the environment. Be aware of the tide schedule as it is a large change.Written April 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tdsuperstarToronto, Canada18,802 contributionsFisherman’s Wharf is just another great part of Victoria to check out. Lots of restaurants to choose from. I’d love to see the area on a weekend when there would be many more people and businesses open. It was a quiet Wednesday when I was at FW, we enjoyed the views and uniqueness of the area. I know we’ll be back!!Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
