Indian Army Female GD Selection Process – Registration, Physical, Medical, & Written Test

Let’s take a look at the selection process of the Indian Army GD Bharti for females in detail. The different stages in the selection process for Female GD in the Indian army are as follows:

  1. Registration & Form Filling
  2. Short listing for PFT
  3. Physical Measurement & Fitness Test
  4. Medical Test
  5. Written Exam (CEE)
  6. Document Verification
  7. Final Merit List
  8. Enrollment for army training centers

Female candidates who are interested or who have applied for army GD (Women military Police) should know the selection or recruitment process. Now let’s discuss these stages of the recruitment process in detail.

#1 Registration & form filling

The recruitment notification for female GD is mostly released in the month of June by the Indian army via joinindianarmy.nic.in or ARO (Army recruitment office). One should stay in touch with the official website or this website or employment news papers and websites to make sure not to miss the notification.

Once the notification is released, then the first thing the interested candidates should do is to make a one time registration on official website (if not done already). Though it’s better if you register yourself before the notification is out. In order to apply for any Bharti rally or recruitment, the candidate must have the online registration on the official website (joinindianarmy.nic.in) within the given period. If the candidate is eligible for the post, then she can fill the online application form and submit it.

See our article Indian army online registration to know the online registration process.

#2 Short listing for PFT

The female recruitment in general duty trade is a new addition to Indian army due to which there are very few vacancies for this post. For the year 2021 there are only 100 vacancies, but the applications are received from all over the country. So, to make the selection process easy and to filter the candidates, not everyone who apply is send the admit card.

First a cutoff based on class 10th percentage is released, then only those candidates who are within the cutoff are considered. Still, if there are too many applicant left, more filtering methods are used, and finally the selected applicants are send the admit card on their registered email id (alternatively, the admit card can also be downloaded from the official website by logging in to your profile).

Note: The cutoff goes really high for admit card. For the year 2020 it was 85%.

Admit Cards for the recruitment rally will be sent through registered e-mail. The candidate should download the Admit Card & print its hard copy. The Time (Date) & venue (Location) of the recruitment rally is mentioned in the Admit Card.

#3 Physical Measurement & Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

The first stage of the selection process in the recruitment rally is PFT (Physical Measurement & Fitness Test). In the Measurement test, Height, Weight, Chest will be examined by the army recruiters. And next is the physical fitness test. The major tests of physical fitness test (PFT) are Running, Long Jump, & High Jump.

⇒1.6 Km Running

Running is the most important & hardest physical test that candidates face. To pass this test one need to finish the 1.6 Km (1600 meters) race within the given time. Here are the time constrains for different groups:

Group – I: candidates who will finish the race within 7 min 30 sec will be placed in group I.

Group – II: Finishing the race between 7.30 to 8 min will lead in group II.

Note: Time taken more than 8 min will result in disqualification. The compition is always high for army bharti, therefore, everyone comes fully prepared and try to finish the race as soon as possible. The sooner the first person will finish the race, the smaller the chances will be for people finishing late. So, keep yourself well prepared for race and do not rely on 7.30 min, the sooner your complete the race, the better your chances.

Provision for extra time for race in hilly terrain: If the recruitment rally is located at the following height then extra time will be given for race.

  • Between 5000 Feet to 9000 Feet – Add 30 seconds in overall timings
  • Between 9000 feet to 12000 Feet – Add 120 seconds in overall timings.

⇒LONG JUMP

In order to qualify for the physical test, one need to qualify for the long jump of 10 feet. Candidates will be given 3 attempts to qualify for long jump.

⇒HIGH JUMP

To proceed further in physical test, the participants nee to qualify the high jump of 3 feet. Candidates will be given 3 attempts to clear this test.

To proceed to next stage of selection process, one need to clear all of these physical test (running, long, & high jump).

#4 Medical Test (Medical Standards)

Participants who will clear the physical test will then undergo the medical test. Medical test is usually conducted on the same or next day of rally.

Candidates undergoing the medical test should be in good physical & mental health condition. they should be free from any disease & disability and capable of doing duty/work (Military task) in all situations (all weather and across all terrains).

  • Fitness: Good fitness (Physical & Mental) is essential for the Indian army. Good physical fitness with good vision (eyes) clean and wax free ears, clean nose, etc.
  • Gender: On external physical exam, If any candidate has masculine characteristics, will be marked as UNFIT and rejected. • Pregnancy: Pregnant candidates will be disqualified. And candidates have to bring the medical certificate of No Pregnant Status from a Government Medical Doctor on reporting for the recruitment rally. And again a fresh medical certificate of NO pregnant status when reporting to the Training center.
  • Amenorrhoea or Menorrhagia:  In the medical examination, all candidates should bring a medical certificate that they do not suffer from primary or secondary amenorrhoea or menorrhagia.

The UNFIT candidates will be referred to the MH (Military Hospital)/CH/BH for medical test & review. Candidates who are referred for medical review should present themselves to the hospital within 14 days of referral and also report back to ARO (Army recruiting office)  for the issue of admit card for written exam, in case the candidate declared as medically FIT.

It is advised for all the candidates from the Indian army that they should have done their medical exam on their own before coming for the recruitment rally.
